Okay who are True Grit fans

I too hope he pulls it off, I think it is quite a compliment to John Wayne that they are trying it. I'm going to see it for sure.

We will probably go see it....one way or another either at the theater or possibly just buy the dvd when it comes out...since Lil Lilly tried out for the part....think we should probably buy it.

I aint much on movie watchin, but that one looks like it might warrant a trip to town, need to pick up some salt bacon cartridges and a few things anyway, might even get me some new carharts for Christmas
good luck

I'm planning on going to the fist showing if I can . I like the Coen Bros' stuff. I like Jeff Bridges. I liked John Wayne and who didn't. I didn't like Kim Darby and wasn't too crazy about Glen Cambell's acting. Saw it at the drive-in.

Heard on the radio this morning to NOT compare it ot the version John Wayne was in as this "edition"followed more closely with the book and would be quite different in areas.

RATHER EMBARASSED TO SAY THAT I JUST RECENTLY SAT AND WATCHED THE ORIGINAL "TRUE GRIT" WITH MY 11 YEAR OLD AND THOROUGHLY ENJOYED IT....HOWEVER, GOTTA SAY THAT I AM CURIOUS ABOUT THE REMAKE AND WILL PROBABLY GO SEE JUST TO COMPARE!!

Any one seen it yet?
I thought 3:10 to Yuma went bad. Just less story and more shot em up.
I hope true grit goes better.

Went to see it at the 7:00 PM showing; Four Thumbs Up ! Mine and my boy, Gus's. Jeff Bridges did Ol' Rooster proud, I think. I thought everyone did real well.

Glad to hear that it's getting good reviews...but I sometimes wonder if Hollywood wants to remake a movie with it's own style and twist to it...they could rename the title too...that way "us" the public wouldn't be so critical when it comes to comparing the old with the new...kind of a mind game...lol

In my opinion the first "True Grit" would have been a complete flop had The Duke not been in it. Whoever made the first one didn't do John Wayne any favors with the cast they picked. Glen Campbell isn't a very good singer, much less an actor. Kim Darby's acting isn't even worth mentioning and Robert Duvall hadn't quite honed his craft yet. All of that being said, the new movie is great. This was the first time I have been to the movie house since 1999 and I had no idea how high the prices are. Me and the "Hostile Native" took the youngest and two of her friends and with 5 tickets, 5 drinks and 2 popcorns it was $85. I liked to have choked when that gal said how much. The movie was well worth it though. Definetly a must see.
