Okay who are True Grit fans

That's not counting the trip to the pizza parlor before the show. What can I say though? Gillette is a boomtown and those are boomtown prices. Regardless of the price, the two kids that aren't ours are dealing with a nasty divorce at home and they needed a little respite and the fun time was well worth it. The "Native" in her infinite wisdom got me some confetti poppers for Christmas, so when we all got back to the house the confetti war was on. The house is a wreck but the kids all laughed. I was glad though that the one movie I chose to see this decade was that one. Jeff Bridges did John Wayne proud !!!

My daughter and her husband went and saw it in Red Deer Ab. and commented that it was pricey to go to a show at the "Big "theater. They usually hit the $5 ticket one but it was going to be a wait until it get there. :D
They liked it. :D

glad to hear it is getting good reviews from yall.

I am trying to get old grouchy to go with me to see it but she is the biggest hermit in the county these days.

We have not been to a movie in over fifteen years.

Last movie I wanted to see on the big screen was open range and I saw it on the tee vee so I reckon I go by myself or wait it out.

Well, I did It! I finally broke down under intense pressure and threats of bodily harm and took Mrs. H to town and saw True Grit tonight. Although she had to put a twitch on me to keep me from killing a couple of chatty knuckleheads in the theater, I did really enjoy the show. I really liked the cinematography and the acting was pretty good too. The gal who played Mattie Ross was great. Jeff Bridges was alright but talked like he bit his tongue off instead of the other guy. Matt Damon did pretty good in a western! I was happy we went and unless there is another western made sooner, i'll be ready to go again in 10 years or so. The last movie I saw before this one in a theater was Open Range. I'd recommend seeing it or for sure getting it on DVD when it comes out. John Wayne is still the king but this movie was pretty decent and I think he'd approve.

I watched the original 'True Grit' when it was on around Christmas and it was a lot better than I had remembered. A bit corny but I suppose I'm biased when it comes to the Duke. The new version is from the Coen brothers and I usually like their movies.

Open Range is a great movie and far above any of the other modern era westerns. I usually don't care for Costner but both he and Duvall were spot on in open range.
