Old Desert Muledeer

An almost 30 inch muledeer. He's 29 & 3/4, a 5 by 5 with pretty decent mass. Had big old feet from living clear out on the desert in the cedars his whole life. A nice big old buck. Taken with a muzzleloader by a client of my brother's last week. They made two circles through a big, flat patch of thick brush and cedar tree. 1st trip kicked out a little buck and some does. 2nd trip kicked out two bucks, a 25" and a 27". My Brother said lets sneak back down and check the backdoor. This ol' buck was sneaking away when they thumped him! Desert hunting at it's best! Congrats to my Brother, Rich and Derick for making the shot!

I get a laugh out of peopple who say mulies are dumb-the 2x2 pissheads aren't too bright but that old campaigner you got didn't get that big by being stupid. You can't call them like elk or moose, rattle them or pattern them like whitetails. We've got a few over 190 a couple i was just lucky enough to see them a long ways off and got them shot-the biggest some other hunters pushed him into our laps. big mulies with a bow is the toughest hunting I've done.
