I laid this old campaigner low on Thursday A'M-I wish I could say I stalked him all day etc but I was taking the boys out to start still hunting saw him laying in his bed-got a good rest and doublre lunged him when he got up. I had to reach out a bit to him(420 of Ty's steps) but I had a good rest. He won't net score squat but he's got a 190 inches of horn-an old sdandhills buck on the downside of life. Saw some reall good young bucks later that day.

Two year-old mule deer are most frequently mistaken for hybrids. This is because of their smaller antler development and the fact that the dichotomous branching, producing the big "forks", usually does not occur until the buck is 3 years old. Young mule deer sometimes give the appearance of a very large white-tailed deer, especially if it's tail has a dark stripe down the back, as sometimes occurs. Mule deer in some areas, like southern California, have a dark band running down the back of their tails.

He grosses right at 190 I haven't figured out his net at all yet-he'll look p[retty nice in a European mount. If you get in good country and spend some time there are a fair number of this class of buck out there. South Dakota-check out that 'whitetail warrior' a few posts down-he's truly a hog.
