I could find everyone's picture but the last one, I just couldn't figure out whose it was. Maybe the owner can tell us, or Chickshunt2.

I don't think we talked about who would post the names of the entries after the contest was over. Again

Please bear with us everyone. Sorry for the inconvenience. We WILL get it
all figured out!!

The entries were outstanding! And it was so nice to have the poll full!!
Now if I can come up with as good a catagory for next week.

Thinking..........thinking........... :P

WOW..a full poll! It wouldnt let me add any extra poll places this week, it told me it was full..hahaha So if I get any late entries I'll have to start a 2nd poll!

You can bet that old safe has an interesting story, the old drill and that old log book...................I vote all 3
good luck

I think we should have a guessing contest on what some of these things are. :D

If you are really, really sure you know let some that are just guessing go first.

I'm pretty sure #6 is Haymakers but only slightly used.

What the heck is #5? A bank? :???:

I found this about log of a cowboy.
"The Log of a Cowboy is an account of a five-month drive of 3,000 cattle from Brownsville, Texas, to Montana in 1882 along the Great Western Cattle Trail. Although the book is fiction, it is firmly based on Adams's own experiences on the trail, and it is considered by many to be the best account of cowboy life in literature. Adams was disgusted by the unrealistic cowboy fiction being published in his day; The Log of a Cowboy was his response. It is still in print, and even modern reviewers consider it a compelling classic. The Chicago Herald said: "As a narrative of cowboy life, Andy Adams' book is clearly the real thing. It carries its own certificate of authentic first-hand experience on every page.""

The Log of a Cowboy can be downloaded for free (just google it) it is offered on both the kindle and nook in their stores also for free. I've downloaded it and got about 1/4 of the way into it...good book so far!

Big Muddy your wrong on number 6! Not Haymakers...

Oh and I forgot to add!

Last night after midnight when I posted the winner there was only one photo with 4 votes making it the winner. When I set up the poll it asks me how many days to run the voting and since I set it up on wed evening I set it to run for 3 days..I thought that would be wed, thurs and fri...but it must not count the day you set it up. I'll try setting the next one for 2 days and hopefully it will let everyone vote until midnight Fri night. If anyone has any issues please let me know!

Boy I'd have bet money that #6 was Haymakers.

#1 as GM88 eluded to was a "Poke" at least that's what they are called in this area. It was put around the neck of a cow and when she stuck her head through the fence if would "Poke" her and she would back up.
I can't even remember where this one came from as I found it cleaning off the back of my bale deck truck and figured it should be in Tam's museum. :D

#9 from Tam is supposed to be a buggy seat spring. I'm not sure if it was part of a pair. Maybe somebody else knows.
:D

What the heck is #5? Come on JF spill the beans. :D :D

#10 must belong to some old sew and sew.

10 is mine...It was loaned to me when my other machine died. It isnt fancy and doesnt do all the neat things the newer machines do but she runs and sews just as good now as the day it was bought. An outstanding machine! I wish they still knew how to build stuff to really last!

  So your the "old" sew and sew.

#2
remains of the Monte Cristo mine on Constellation Road, Wickenburg, AZ. There are several old gold and silver mines on this road (which took me to a ranch I worked for about 10 years ago), very interesting for a sightseeing trip for somebody who prefers not-so-touristy road trips, 4-wheel drive recommended, though.

'Sorry, but I've been gone for a few days and just got back home to my computer this evening.

This photo is of an old item in my collection of 'personal treasures'. My office is full of them. Perhaps insignificant stuff to most folks but sentimental to me.

It is an old mechanical, cast iron bank. I found it many years ago in a nearby pasture where homesteaders had settled. I actually located it on a website called: mechanicalbanksonline.com. It was called the "Boy Scout Camp" bank, made from 1912-1917 by J. E. Stevens Co.

It is broken up some but if you look closely you will see a boy scout in the tent door, another standing between the tent & fire and evidence of a third one standing behind the large kettle on the fire. With a coin placed in a slot at the top of the tree, you would push the lever at the base of the tent, which would let the coin drop into the bank and make the arms of the scout standing next to the tent raise a flag up & down!

If you are interested, check out this link to see pictures of one in better shape- http://mechanicalbanksonline.com/images/banks/K148L.JPG

Very interesting JF Ranch! The catagory for this week should be right up your alley. Pictures of your desk.........you mentioned you had a lot of things like the bank, so we'll be anxious to see what all you do have on your desk!!
Tomorrow night is when to submit your entry, so you still have plenty of time!

I thought maybe it was a old bank. :D
Tam's G'pa had a "Teddy shooting a bear bank" that he gave to his first great Grandson. :D

I've been so preoccupied with other things lately, I missed the desk contest. However, you asked for it, now you're goin' to get it!

Actually, I once thought about starting a thread where we all could post photos of our "sentimental treasures". This idea never quite got off the ground. I did however take a few pictures in my office and these sort of take you around the circle:

The mechanical bank can be found in one of these pictures. It would be like "Where's Waldo" and is pretty hard to spot.

I operate in a very cluttered office environment but fortunately, I know where to find everything. There are countless "sentimental treasures" represented in these photos.
