I wouldn't wish a mountain lion attack on anyone, but I certainly would enjoy having Tony Dean cross paths with that cat after saying this on his website:yep...it was more...thats been confirmed. I cant believe you would wish something as terrible like that on anyone.
"Unfortunately, so much of the coverage of the state Mtn Lion season and sightings of cougars has verged on sensational. And some ranchers size upon each killing as "one less predator we'll have to deal with." I consider it a miracle that in spite of how much development has occurred in the Black Hills, a large predator has been able to survive. I hope I am lucky enough to see one sometime."
(The spelling errors are Dean's)
Do you suppose having a large feline predator pounce on him like what happened with these kids would change his perspective?
We pay predator control pilots with our own money to kill predators for us. They are much more efficient than the average hunter and give us way more "bang for our buck" than even the GF&P trappers, although some of the trappers are also very good, especially when they work together with the predator control pilots.i dont know why there is not a bounty on coyotes anyway....give some a reason to hunt them. Maybe you ranchers out west should put some $$ in a pot for an incentive for hunters to come out and hunt them......but i forgot, they cant on your place because your locked out.
You just can't get past the lockout thing, can you? Does hunting really take priority over property rights for you? After reading some of your very good posts on the political bull session, I've come to expect a more reasoned approach to our constitutionally guaranteed rights from you. Or are you only conservative on certain social issues?
You go ahead and get used to having mountain lions loose in your neighborhood if it makes you feel better, but count me out.i am sure the kid was scared shi$#less, thats for sure, i would be too. Maybe the best place for these animals are behind bars, in a zoo. NOT
Its a scary thing, those lions, thats for sure. Awsome, majestic animal they are. 99.99% will never ever be a problem, but i guess the only good lion is a dead lion?
Its something you, me and everyone else is gonna have to get used to, like it or not!
I refuse to give up the freedom to traverse my own land without having to worry about an attack from a hungry predator. I also refuse to allow my children, my grandchildren and my livestock become cat food because some fuzzy-headed animal lovers from the inner cities want large predators turned loose in rural areas to accommodate their misguided ideas about the "balance of nature" - whatever that means!
Let's turn those cougars, wolves and grizzly bears loose in Los Angeles and New York City and see if those whackos still appreciate "getting back to nature". I've got a feeling that the "call of the wild" would soon become blood-curdling screams for someone to "do something"!!
