Not sure what year Don Wood started the John Dealership in Montpelier Id. think it was 1979. Well we bought the first tractor, a JD 4040 quadra shift. This morning it turned over to a whole 4000 hours, Oldest piece of equipment I have, and it got the least amount of hours. We bought it to farm and bale hay, But we soon ended up with two NH 1284 self-propelled balers. Years later when I traded my NH 1046 self-propelled slackliner for a round baler , did it start getting more then a few hundred hours on it each spring. Do some spring tooth harrowing here and bale hay(not this year) I got a DewEze bale hugger, I used to feed when the loader tractors down. The bale hugger also handles a High Hog drum cake feeder, that I can move cows any where with. Oh and the 4040 worth as much or more then it was new! right now it on the flat bed 5th wheel with two 450 gallon takes, 2 long trips with a shorter trip , on each one , for 3600gallons of water with a total of 16.8 miles a day.
