sounds like everyone is going to have a little rain on there hay, just watched the calgary news the weather system reaches all the way down to texas , pretty amazing

FH, hopefully you don't get anything to severe. haying has been a challege so far around here, to say the least. late last week we got just about 4 inches in 24 hours. and hail with most of it, thankfully hasn't done any damage. the big white combine is the last thing we need right now, the wheat look awfull good. i only had 70 acres down that got the 3+ inches on it. i haven't put up any yet that hasn't gottin' wet. things are almost simpler in a drought :? :???: :wink:

Justin, I came home yesterday late afternoon and it rained hard from
10 miles south of Bowman to Marmarth. Then it was dry from there
on to Baker. But that changed about 8 PM. Did you get rain yesterday
afternoon/evening? If so, how much did you get?

lets see...i'm starting to lose track of which rain came when. we had a light shower about 9:30ish last night, didn't amount to much. our last inch came friday afternoon. i see the radar has a yellow box around you, we are about 10 miles to the east of it....i hate to say it, but i hope it doesn't rain :???: but some rained on hay is sure worth it when i person takes a look at the pastures

Sounds like parts of the Larslan area got the "white reaper" last night- and right now there is another thunderstorm on the radar showing all red/yellow rainbowy colors moving our way from the west that stretches from Canada down into Garfield County south of the Missouri...

Hopefully its just buckets of water.... :wink:

I was north today checking bulls and cows- and even had to turn on my windshield wipers once this morning ( enough to make the window smeared and muddy) :wink:

I just looked at some of the remote weather stations in Garfield county. The
airport is showing wind gusts to 71 mph. None of them show any precip yet.
We might catch the south edge of the storm. probably will be a little more rained on hay, but that's better than chasing smoke.

We are finally getting our first full day of rain this year, this should help make a hay crop. Our flood irrigation water was pretty well dried up when we pulled dams on the 1st, so this will be the icing on the cake.


Now if it will just know when to quit. We start haying about the 20th.

OT really strong winds and heavy rain. Looks like the rocks fell west and south of us this time. Very dangerous lighting with the one that hit us.
We got .46" tonight.

the wind laid some more of our damaged wheat down.

Powers out. Hubby got the tractor and PTO generator going. The lighting got a main transmission line. Power poles are down all around Carter, MT and they had to bring in guys from out of county trying to get everything back up and going.
Figured that the winds were around 50-60 mph or faster.

No real wind to speak of- and no hail-- but it is dumping buckets They had tornado warnings as several funnel clouds were spotted- but the warning is past us.... Still coming down good- and I'll bet we have an inch.....
Be a few days before we do any haying...

We received .80 tenths last night. Power was off for a couple hours. Haven't been out to check away from the buildings but by the weather service rainfall imagery it was still spotting. I was out fencing before the storm and things were cooling off, at this particular spot the grasshoppers were trying to stay warm and were so thick that they covered the rocks and the railroad tie that I had laid there. I didn't have the camera with me. It about made me sick.
I sure hope the article in the Western Producer is correct when it says not all grasshoppers are bad. :? :???:

The rain yesterday went North and South of us and we didn't get a drop. :roll: Our Preacher is holding on to the money I guess.

Well I got .6 down on the river- and that makes for 1.3 inches in the last week....North place we got 1.3 which makes for about an inch and half up there for the week....
I see town is reporting 1.1.....This rain covered all the county and several around us... Definitely needed it...

OT we have gotten 1.81" since the 4th.
Power finally came back on around 6am this morning. Linemen called me at 12:30am to let me know they were on their way out.

We are up to 1 1/4" since night before last , and it's still raining! Dang near doubled our precip for the year. Might be a little late for the hay, but it will help and it should make for a real good oat crop and a vast improvement on the grazing.
Problem is, since it's raining I've been banished to the basement to build a bedroom. Got the drywall up and the room wired yesterday, I guess I'll have to build the closet, mud and tape today. I hate mudding and taping

You must not hate muddin and tapin near as much as Mr Lilly does. Cuz when we built our house, he tried, bless his heart, and hated it.........I ended up muddin and tapin this whole house at night, after the kids had gone to sleep and he'd gone to work. I'd stay out here till the wee hours of the mornin then go in and shower and crash right before he'd come home from work at 5am.
