The two story I saw was built so the upper half could be used when the snow got too deep to get to the door on the lower half...The upper half was built offset behind the bottom half....

They said the miners couldn't take time away from their diggings to have to worry about digging out the outhouse door- so this solved their problem..

Here's a picture of one in Nevada City, Montana......this is so cool!!!!!

Yes,thats also what the one in Empty town looked like,I wonder if maybe there was a place in the upper one for a pot? Just a thought.I remember being told that the one we saw ,the upper level was for Hotel guests, then my mind blanks :?

That's pretty neat. Don't think I have ever seen a double-decker like
that.

Speaking of outhouses, we were in Chris LeDoux's house in Kaycee, Wyoming and he had an indoor outhouse. It was inside, with modern plumbing, but was a two-holer and the walls and bench was old barnwood.
Just like "the good old days."

Was just talking with someone the other day about wantin to build an indoor outhouse. With the old wood and all.
One of these days when I build a cabin, the shower walls are gonna be river rocks, instead of tile. And I think the indoor outhouse thing would be neat too. All this talk, has me eyein the kids hall bathroom....uhgggg is it makeover time??? LOL

A friend of ours did there fireplace in river rock, its really nice,we always said we would do that if we put a big fireplace in.

By the way my bathroom is decorated with outhouses, border, paper holder ect!
