Paint breeders,help

does it have blue eyes??

And if it is Leathel white there is nothing that can be done for it!! Wish you the best of luck!! Talk to your vet about it and see if he/she has any suggestions!

No..its eyes are dark, thats the first thing I looked at,and both moms eyes are dark, she's overo and the stud was overo but his eyes were blue...so you think it will be OK??

I'm not a paint breeder or know much about the lethal white, but here is a site that kinda explains it.
I sure hope he/she isn't a lethal white.

Ok here she is...what do you guys think, shes drinking and seems to be healthy,oh I feel sick about this, all the years we've bred paints,I sure hope shes a palimino

Well if it's a lethal white you'll have your answer pretty quick. That's a pretty cool looking little colt you don't see many pure white horses of any make. I don't have any here yet but hopefully pretty soon.

Her eyes are dark and she has a palamino strip right down the middle of her tail, the stud was the one greg traded back to Sask. last year for those two yearling fillies...the stud was a palamino paint.

Went to Daines bucking horse sale today....horses went low

So did you buy any lol. Ty's hoping our Blue Feathers colts don't buck because they sure are pretty lol. Were going to buck 'Gooch' at Meadow Lake this year and hopefully get him sold. Not sure how many mares we've got foaling this year-my old draft mares might be getting too old to be mammas any more.

Well the little girls rolling so it looks for sure shes lethal white, hopfully we can get a hold of the vet to give her a shot :cry2: :cry2:

Kola...we'll have the vet put her to sleep,a lethal white dies a painful death because they can't have a bowel movement...I'm very sad.

We were always told the lethal is thrown through eye colour, the glass eye,not to breed overos that both have the glass eye but mama doesn't have a glass eye at all,so obviously that wasn't truth. If we breed her again it won't be to another paint because she obviously has the gene.Poor mom :(

This is the first I've heard of lethal white. Won't they have a bowel movement shortly after nursing so you'll know one way or the other. Can you see them trying to have a bowel movement but nothing happens or how does this work.

rainie,Jigger boss posted a link that explains the lethal white really good, and its newer info then we had. The filly's acting really colicy and is rolling, this usually happens quite soon after the birth. We've bred paints for years going on the old glass eye info, and never had a lethal white before but will never ever breed two overos together again thats for sure.

I really feel for you Mrs. Greg-- nothing worse than a little one born with a problem, no matter what it is... You just feel so helpless...

All the years I've been around horses- and I'd never heard of this Lethal White thing :o I guess I've just never had much to do with paints and pintos.... Learn something new everyday....

:( Yes its been a hard day watching that little gal struggle like that...I guess one has to take the bad with the good

So sorry to hear about your baby :( You can still breed momma to a paint next year but make sure daddy is a Tobiano. Overo to Overo is a 25 % chance lethal white no matter how careful you are. :( Hugs from BC, it sucks to lose a baby :(
