Hi all--been a long while since posting on here! Busy on the ranch and with homeschooling our 5 1/2 year old son :-) I check back in often and read all you have been up to. Quick question: we are in the midst of calving and have had 2 calves born in which their backends won't work; at all. Almost seems like they are paralyzed. First calf died and the second we put down. Anyone seen this? We were wondering if the cow was standing when the calf was born and fell out and broke its neck or spine. Anyone else have this happen? We are chalking it up to bad luck :(

I assume when you say back ends you are meaning hind legs?
Yes, the hind legs. I think it must just be bad luck. Possible the calves could have been stepped on perhaps when they were born. They never bawled like they were in pain though :???:
