We planted a few days later this year as well as the summer being cool.....to the dismay of global warming ninnies I'm sure. :?

Thanks Cal, I feel a lot better now. Millet might find a home here each year. Have you ever swath grazed yours? I think I will bale only about a third of it and swath graze the rest.

We had some sorgumsudan one year many moons ago. It was terrible light so we swathed it and raked two rows together. Then it rained. We finally just left it in the field and the cattle cleaned it up right to the dirt.

We haven't swath grazed. Our millet ground usually gets planted back to winter wheat as soon as we can get the bales off. We plant some on the edge of a meadow, and don't windrow it, that the cows do graze, however. I'd be scared to leave too much in a swath around here, that'd it'd end up under a layer of hard snow and ice.
