Its raining here now has been raining for 2 or 3 weeks. It's quite muddy the creek running thru my south pasture is about 100 ft wide normally 10ft.
I had the perfect day in a way. I had errands to take care of and I ended up getting up to feed about 1:30. We've got a few cow's that are into free grazeing so I took a swing around the section and found one cow out. I figureed I'd feed and then put her in and fix the fence.Got near the corner of the pasture and there lays a 1st calf heifer with a dead calf laying behind her. The water in the ditch is about 3 ft deep so I figured I'd back up and walk in thru the woods about a 1/4 mile. Started backing up and here comes 4 cows heading back where they belonged so I put them in and fixed the fence. Drove back to the corner and checked the heifer decided to back up and walk in and see if she could get up as I approached her she got up and walked about 20ft away the calf had the sack over it's head clear back to it's hips. It was dry as paper other than the part right by it's nose that was soft yet and moveing in and out with a soft breath. I ripped it off and that calf drew in a big gasp of air. It was up and nurseing within an hour.Lucky is all I can say.
