Don't ya just hate to see so much mud .......   Nice shots once again... I don't know how you and everyone else can have such a good eye for the great shots..... 8)

Nice pics. It's sure too bad they still don't make those old Ford pickups like that....best outfits ever made for the Sandhills IMO.

Get rid of the plumb disgusting models, but I would sure hang onto that windmill man. They are hard to come by. Just the time I got my girls trained to where they were good, Some other guy came along and laid claim to them! Looks like Sheridan Co put on a good show. The cowboys were sittin pretty in some pretty precarious seats. Thanks for the posts. I always enjoy them.

This 1995 red Ford pickup is a 3/4 ton, single cab, long box outfit that will go practically anywhere. I also have a "no-frills" Dodge 2005 model, single cab, no electric windows or electric door locks, 3/4 ton, long box pickup that you don't dare try to go where the red Ford will go. You will end up walking home if you do, because it will get stuck. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. I drive both outfits just the same, but I have learned my lesson the hard way. :? :-)

I am sure disappointed in a 2001 Ford F250, 4x4, manual 5 speed with a Triton V-8 in it. This outfit is nearly helpless. Half the time, it will kill out easing from a stop or while backing up to something. Somewhere along the line, they have taken the lugging power out of these pickups.

I've been told that they have gone to a long stroke vs. the old short stroke engines for emissions reasons. Since I've always had Fords, I don't know what Chevys or Dodges are like and I am no mechanic, but in my opinion, they have designed these newer model "off-road vehicles" for use with automatic transmissions and highway use only.

I always get a kick out of watching television advertisments for these TOUGH TRUCKS as they bounce over boulders and climb mountains with ease. I'll take an older model or perhaps "vintage" outfit over the new models these days.

The Dodge Hemi we have equally sucks. Get in loose sand and it just starts jumping. My wife has an '05 Ford F150 that gets along real good, with the 300 horse 5.4liter and automatic, but has aftermarket 19" rims on it and gets terrible gas mileage. The 06 Chevy I've got has kind of been a pleasant surprise considering the terrible lemons we got from Chevy in the late 80s and 90s. I don't have a gooseneck ball on it because we've got other outfits we can pull a trailer with, and it's only got the 6.0 liter gas w/automatic anyway. But it actually gets around the Sandhills pretty well, although that plastic junk is below the front bumper and gets knocked loose periodically. The best part is that it was a closeout, and I bought it on the last day of the month, just a couple hours before closing time, and offered them $21K cash for it and they took it. Naturally they had to act insulted at first by my offer. The thing is that I don't want a Diesel to drive in the mud and down in the Sandhills; just too much weight and expense in something that's going to be beat plum to death. A cheap gas outfit is a little more "disposable", and I don't feel too bad sending it to an early grave.
