My great uncle who turns 100 in a few days was showing my folks some of his photo albums from when he worked for a surveying crew for the US government back in 1936. He surveyed elevations on Beartooth Pass (near Red Lodge, MT), around Cody, WY, various other locaations in Wyoming and then his crew was sent to survey across Highway 20 in northern Nebraska. While he was near Chadron he and his fellow surveyors were invited to attend a branding one afternoon. He didnt recall the name of the ranch or the brand used but thought I'd post it on here in the rare chance someone on here recognized anything. My Uncle Marvin is an extraordinary man with an amazing memory and photos to go along with his stories he tells! He turns 100 on Jan 8th and will make the trip from where he lives now in MN to Las Vegas, Nevada, where he lived for 40 years. He and my great aunt never had any children of their own--however every single on his his nieces and nephews (15 of them) and their spouses will be making the trip to Vegas to celebrate his 100th birthday with him! My generation I will be there along with my twin brother and one of my first cousins as well. How cool is that! On to the photos:
I believe these guys were part of the survey crew--listed a Mr and Mrs Gordon--perhaps it was their ranch my uncle was at?
Any idea what they are doing to this cow?
