I'm glad I have been culling cows the last couple years that have to eat to keep any kind of flesh on them. :D

My grass either looks like this....

...or this, within the same fences???

Heifer I am going to try to keep.

Hay field that I will graze sometime coming up.

My mule likes to go back to wild burro type statis on pasture.
cc8.jpg

I had to redneck camp it up at a lake and camp ground. Can't not feed your bottle goats when you take on that task. :D I got a lot of stares followed by "we love your goats" :D :D I might put up a "we don't rent goats" sign up next time....ok, that was stupid :D

I hope this set of eggs hatch....poor girl. Long story short - she's VERY broody.

Hawkeye and Stew. Stew might live up to his name??? :D I don't have enough hens for two roosters. Things are fine now, but waiting to see...
cc29.jpg

I seen pictures of goats in tubs on peoples places in my internet travels. So I put some in their pens....sure enough, my goats like to lay in them too.

Your grass is holding up great considering your weather conditions.

Ya might try some horn weights on them goats. With a little creativity their horns could be shaped into team roping stock for the young'uns.

You keep adding critters and H is going to call you Old MacDonald. :P

Thanks RA, your enthusiasm is an inspiration.

That grass has green coming in it. If you take apart an antique broom you'll have what my grass looks like. :? I really wonder about a guy that takes his goats to the lake RA! You keep headed down that path and we may have do have an intervention. Other than that, things look pretty good. I have never seen an ice-cooled rabbit before. Chalk up another first, thanks to ranchers.net! You are the man RA! :D

No matter how hard RA tries, he won't turn a Missouri Lop Ear into an Arctic Hare!

Great pictures. My wife has a chicken just like yours it thinks its sole purpose in life is setting on eggs. We just want to eat them. She dosn't like you to take them either. :D

A fun set of pics! Those ice bottles probably kept the bunnies alive with the heat here lately.

Taking the goats camping? Call Jeff Foxworthy, you might be a redneck. What lake is that? Water looks too clean to be Smithville, the wakes turn up greenish-yellow there.

I love your tank of Oscars, I had those same three types in a tank that I started out with them being about 1 1/2 inches long. When they reached maturity the red and albino battled for about two weeks and then they died about 5 minutes apart. Was truely sad. I hope you don't run into the same problem. They are very territorial fish. My best guess was that the two were males.

Thanks for the pictures, RA and for taking such good care of your livestock.
You are an agricultural ambassador, just what we need to show folks
that ranchers really do care about their animals!!

I admire your dedication! What cute kiddos. You are making memories
for them and for you.

Keep the pictures coming!

Thanks, gcreekrch! If I build this ranch up to anything, enthusiasm might be the only thing I started with that I have ever seen on a list of what you need to start a ranch with. :D :D :D I haven't ever seen credit card dept, only having two tires on a 1976 triple axle trailer, no savings, no job, less than 50 bucks in the checking account, etc, etc. :D :D :D

"team roping stock for the young'uns".... :D :D I have a place set aside for an arena...just waiting until I can get some dirt work done for it. They are going to get in on some roping if they want to. Many a good evening could be spent making horses and getting better at roping out there...wholesome family fun!

I'll have at least one more species added to my group of animals in the next set of pictures. :D ....and will be closer to having H calling me Old McDonald. :D

Heck R A you don't need another tractor, you just need a PTO and hydraulics on your suv

:D

Maybe like the King Ranch truck, someone can make the RA Ranch suv. :D live pto, front-end loader, third row seating, etc.... :D

I just spit tea all over my keyboard!!! Goats on a camping trip!!!!!

Thanks, leanin'H! I can't be the man when you da man though! :D "intervention".... :D Maybe I won't post pics of taking them fishing here on my ponds.. :D Yeah, I would use frozen milk jugs for helping keep the rabbits cool, but don't have the freezer room at the moment....I feel it works. Still hoping for rain and grass for ya.

Great pictures as usual, R A. Variety is the spice of life, and you display a lot of variety. Keep 'em comin'. :-)

Thanks, Soapweed! I had some scary things happen to me last year about this time....so I'm on a mission to learn all I can about certain simple things I can do here while ranchin'....and teach my kids about it. I think taking pictures like you and I do is a great thing! You do a great job of showing your day to day life out there!

Thanks, 3 M L & C! Yep. Ah,let her hatch some eggs. :D :D Just kidden. I had two Barred Rock hens go broody when my young roosters started breeding. I would move them off the nest everyday and take their eggs. One hen quit sitting after a couple days. The other was still sitting 24/7 after a couple weeks. So I seperating her off and gave her 10 eggs. One tried to hatch, 7 were not fertile, and two had chicks but didn't hatch after 20 some days. I put her with the rest of the chickens to give her a break and she went right back to sitting. So after a few more days of that, I seperated her again and gave her 10 more eggs. These should all be fertile now. She's still sittting like she should on these. Aug 7th they start hatching if all went well. May be too hot out???

Thanks, MO cows! You know, of all my animals right now, the rabbits seemed to show the most stress from this heat....by far really.

:D That's Mozingo Lake by Maryville, Mo. I haven't been to Smithville Lake yet. I might have to check it out. I've been real close and all around it, just haven't seen it.

Thanks, gearhead! I've had about every fish you can buy from a pet store....I worked at a pet store in high school....and Oscars are by far my favorite fish! I've had at least one Oscar since I could ride my bike to the pet store as a kid. Sorry to hear about yours! I've read all over in books, on fish forums, and on the net that you shouldn't keep 3 together, but I have done it. These have been togther a couple years now with no trouble. I used to just grow them and give them away to start over with tiny ones. Now I want to keep them. I grew these in seperate tanks and put them together to hopefully find another breeding pair....I haven't had one in awhile and would like to do that again. The only thing that has happened is they quit growing. They all do some lip locking and stuff, but none have paired up. Maybe all females??? I'd say my lutino and tiger are in the 8" to 10" range. Cool fish, IMO!

Thanks! a great set of pictures! I must agree, I've never heard of anyone taking their goats camping :)

Thanks, Nicky! What kind of mother would I be heading off to swim and camp while leaving my babies at home starvin' to death for their warm whole cows milk??? :D :D :D

Thanks, Faster horses! There's no place in the world I'd rather be than taking care of my animals. Your too kind though, I'm just doing what needs done. It's a great feeling to know that they are totally dependant on you for their needs and see them happy. :D

Thanks, katrina! Maybe only people that have seen Lonesome Dove would get the don't rent sign.. :D I'm working on the calves....still have a lot to learn about what to look for in a good calf. I went and watched a 4-h beef show the other day to listen to what the judge liked and didn't like about all the cattle in the different classes. Hope you get some rain!!!...and keep training that lower back and doing them squats with the ball! :D :D
