Pee-wee.....replacement heifer/savings account. :D I got everybody to calve in March...except pee-wee here was born on the forth of July.

Would it be wise to paint the floor to get it to last longer? I take the mats out and wash them and the trailer out after every time I use it so it might last as long as possible.
ccc1.jpg

Rabbits and garden fertilizer. I put it on the garden after taking this.
ccc2.jpg

Daisy Mae....mini pot bellied pig. Wild lil' thing until she learned I meant food. She echoes her squeels down both valleys when she sees me coming now.

I sadly let my chickens go down hill. They quit layin and I had to put two down. Sad of me....I didn't mean to. I'm back on track now though with all new practices! They are already back to laying almost everyday and acting great!

A heifer I raised on the left is taller than my second biggest cow.

She's a sweety.

Lake RA...ha. ...didn't capture all the purples that were showing very well
hh12.jpg

Bacon had a hanging/carcass weight of 220. I don't know what his live weight would of been, but am happy to have food in the freezer.
hh13.jpg

Black panther in with the goats.
hh14.jpg

I love feeding cows in a line
hh15.jpg

Always a heifer or cow away from everybody so I look even worst as far as numbers on this board...GET OVER THERE SO I LOOK BETTER..., :D
hh16.jpg

Thanks for looking!

I think Linseed oil rather then paint would be better for the trailer floor. Maybe somebody else know of something better.

I was wonder how heavy the plastic the pork is wrapped in? Our butcher usually uses paper except bags for the ground beef. and plastic if he is putting it in boxes. I know if you leaves steaks that are just in the plastic in the freezer long they freezer burn. Maybe your is heavier plastic.
Is it vacuum packed? That would make the difference.

Pee wee's sister looks pretty close to making beef.

Great bunch of pictures but no horse shoes welded up. :D

I like the Linseed oil. But it is right it can get slick. If a guy throws a few shovels of dirt on before you use it that would help. Especially by the door. If you put the linseed oil on have the oil hot and find a good hot day to do it. But you keeping it clean is probably right on track for a long life.

The trailer floor is slicker than snot right now the way it is. I always put in those thick heavy stall/trailer mats before I haul anything anyway.....I just want to protect the floor the best I can. I'd like to do whatever would protect it the best, it doesn't matter what it does to the floor, the critters will always be on the mats and I don't mind taking them out and putting them back in.

Great pictures as usual!! How did you take the one of you scratching the heifer with both hands? How long is your trailer? Sure looks long in the picture.

Thanks! No welded up horseshoes because I still can't plug it in anywhere yet.... :( :D .....but am working on it. I wish I knew more about electricity. I was offered a free generator but nothing more has been said and I don't want to be the one to bring it up. I'll be welding within the next month.

I've never heard of putting linseed oil down on trailer floors, so thanks!

The plastic doesn't seem to be very think, but is vacuum sealed. It's pancakes and sausage today and then ham steaks and mashed potatoes tomorrow for supper, so I'll know more about the thickness of the plastic wrap then....the sausage is just bagged. I might have it all ate by the end of next week.... :D

I'll be honest, I never even thought about eating a heifer that comes in open when she shouldn't and was surprised to hear that being brought up so much....makes sense though and am happy to have more options of getting beef in the freezer.

R A, now it becomes apparent why your cattle are so gentle. You are dressed in camouflage, and they don't even know you are there.

lol... :D It doesn't hurt to cheat sometimes..... :D

Wonderful pictures. I like your replacements too. Shows you are really making progress with your herd. You might paint your trailer floor with a high grade floor paint. I know my '91 Trailman trailer was painted, well I guess its still painted, since I keep mats in it also. I'm not as good about pulling them and washing it out as I should be. I do shovel it out every time I pull it, and wash it a couple times a year. The floor looks brand new. I will get a picture of it one of these days for you.

Alright, thanks! I had an old 1976 Gooseneck brand trailer for a couple years right before this one. It had a really good original floor in it though when I bought it and I ruined it in a hurry never taking the mats out and never cleaning it. I'm taking care of this one and just want to make sure I do all I can to keep it nice. Thanks again!

That chicken has darn good balance if it used that spoon to eat its gruel!

:D :D Oatmeal was a HUGE hit last night....plain yogurt not so much....yet anyway.

Thanks! I took that picture by using the timer deal on the camera while it was hanging around my neck by the strap....took a couple times to get the arch of my back right to get it close to being right. I always have it hanging around my neck while choring. I wondered if someone was going to ask and was going to say something naughty, but got embarassed.....lol.... :D

Trailer is a 32 footer...I love it! I found it down by Houston, Texas. People that showed cattle bought it and pulled it twice and gave it back to the dealer. It was priced way less than a new one.

In 1971 when I came home from the USMC I had to live in town for a while and I raised rabbits - - - talk about meat producers - - - breed a doe and 28 days later have an average of 8 babies - - - 28 days later wean the babies then 12 hours later rebreed her - - - take her to the bucks cage, leave for 1 hour, move to a second bucks cage for another hour and 28 days later you have 8 more and the first 8 are now butchered at 4# @ A good 8# to 10# doe will produce 32# of weaned babies every 8 weeks and she will eat apx. 100# of feed a year. Of course that does not include the bunny feed.

When a 10# doe weans 190# of bunnies a year that is impressive!!!! I love my cows but they don't even come close as far as efficiency!

Thanks! If you get a picture of it someday, I'd be happy to see it! Like right now it's just out there getting rain on the floor...just making sure I get it protected as good as possible. I'm looking forward to be down the road a ways and see what my herd looks like. I paid $1500 for my bull as a two year old, so it shouldn't be too hard to get more power in the herd.... :D I'm a long ways from where I want to be, but might end up going backwards from here on out.... :D

Enjoyed the photos! As usual!

Since Jody brought cats up, don't you have any barn cats? House cats?
I don't think we've ever seen any, have we???

Cute shot and caption of the goat and the heeler.

You've got some cows/heifers there that look like tanks.

Thanks! I've posted some cat pics. I only have 7 barn cats right now. I take 500 pics or more a day sometimes....trying to sum up a week or more at a time is hard and the cats usually get left out. No house cats...I'm allergic to animals....can only have fish in the house.... :(

That billy goat, Jax, is hilarious!!! He and I are pals, but it's on with everything else. I stopped letting him hay the cows though....too stressful for them with him trying to fight every one of them and he is going to get smashed.

some cat pics....
