Comments and criticism?>

I've got one of them. When I bought her as a calf I thought she was a longhorn cross. She is always fat. I ain't too sure they ain't about the best cows for just a grass outfit, if they all are like mine.

Can't tell too much about your calf ACS, the pix are a little too dark for my old eyes. But I think in one of them, he's runnin' down hill awful fast!

Time will tell if he's a good one or not. I never showed steers, so I wouldn't know a good one from a bad one anyway. If it's like the bull shows, if he was a good one, I wouldn't like him. :D

I'm kind'a old fashioned. I like them square built, close to the ground ones. Built kind'a like me.

Any of them that stay fat all year around on grass and raise a good calf, work for me. :)

JB that was the downfall of Pinz's they looked like Longhorn X's when they hit the ring-I've senn some good 'skunk' cows in my travels though.

It's sure too bad people can't get past color, isn't it.

I'll bet that when you peel the hide off, they all look the same.

On everything.

I think his tail is cute. Course that ain't here nor there when it comes to the show ring. I know here, if a steer has any loud coloring at all.......it's almost a guarantee that he'll be pushed to the bottom end. It is sad that folks can't get past color, especially when dealin with kids and show critters. It's not only in the steer ring, it happens in the goat show ring as well. Or maybe I should say "lack of color" Most everyone here raises boer goats or crosses of boers. They are white bodied with a brown head. But sometimes you have one with no brown on it at all. 2 of the 3 goats Lil Lilly has shown have been solid white...and neither of them did worth a dern. If (IF) she shows again, we've talked about it and decided there won't be anymore without brown heads. I'm fairly sure she'll show again this year, since the breeder we get her goats from owe's us a goat. Mr Lilly done some tradin last year....and agree'd to a free goat for this year.

Truer words have never been spoken on ranchers :!: Thx JB for that wisdom :)

Years ago, I had a chiropractor that was blind. He was Wonderful because he used his hands to feel and find where you were out of place. I've often said, I wish they'd have blind show cattle judges and make them feel their way thru the steers. That'd eliminate the color issue all together.

Sure would help eliminate the "ticklish"ones too.

ACS, good luck with your steer. We have 8 part bred Pinzgauer cows, they're all good cows except one, but they all raise thick meaty calves. It always ticks me off though when we sell them. Buyers just can't seem to get past that white tail! The cows for the most part are easy keepers with great personalities, I'd like a whole bunch more of them. We have some of those cows down to 1/32 Pinzgauer, and you still can't breed that white tail out of them. Fine by me, though. Love seeing those white butts all lined up in a row when we're feeding!

TY all!!!

JB, I like calves with bellies closer to the ground, personal preference I guess, but Great minds think alike, eh? ;)

I'm thinking about buying his dam come spring, she is one heck of a cow!
