Glad to hear you aren't getting pounded  . We all deserve to luck out every now and again :D . I really like your marker, the brown ears and front feet are the best! Keep the pics coming!

That herd marker is so awesome, that is what I have wanted to get into my fall calving set of black cows - some herd markers!

How many do you have? 1 herd marker for how many cows? I want to see pictures of your other ones

Aye Laddie, twas a plain sorta' day.

You might help the power guys out by using a potato gun to shake the frost off the wires.

Looks as though you have things under control. Keep warm and safe, spring is coming. :D

I'm pretty darn lucky here. So far the power has only been off a couple hours and has stayed on since. Saw a couple of Guard ducks headed somewhere yesterday. No more precip here this morning and it's cold enough it should be snow. Sure feel for you folks who will be without power for weeks. That homemade electricity is a lot of extra work in itself, not to mention expensive.

Nice pictures. We just got our power on after 3 days and 3 nights. Today we did not even see our cows. Really glad Mor-Gran-Sou was out there working. That frost and ice on the lines is why we were without and many others too. SW ND was a major mess today.

Up here there are many communities out of power- but the blizzard was so bad- and the guys have been working so long (some since Thursday)- they called them all back in and will try to get a fresh start in the morning- when the wind hopefully is supposed to be lower....

Many Rural Communities Without Power
According to Scott St. John, spokesman for Norval Electric, several rural communities will have to spend Sunday night without power. Crews had been pulled off the repair work on Sunday afternoon due to extremely dangerous blizzard conditions.

The following areas will be without power tonight (Sunday):

Pines Recreation Area
North Hinsdale area
Wiota Bottom
North of Rose Hill
Opheim
Glentana
Richland
Peerless
Four Buttes
Larslan

According to St. John, at least 30 power poles were down with the probability of even more.

The problems were due to what started out as heavy frost on the line on Thursday, which caused some outages for the Opheim and Peerless areas. Then, ahead of the snow on Friday, freezing rain hit the area, compounding the problem.

St. John said that crews will head out at daylight tomorrow and extra contractor crews will be helping the expedite the repair process.

Grandson has been staying with us- and he has a little buddy out for the weekend...He sure got a big grin when I told him they weren't running any buses tomorrow- and this time he gets to be one of the bus kids that get to miss school....

We have 30kw 60 surge running 540. I have the 1000 shaft in and the 7400 idled back to 540. We have Dad's house with an electric furnace and a water heater, the daughetrs house with a water heater and our house with 2 water heaters 6 watering bowls ect. I plug the chore tractor is for a couple of hours in the morning and the stoves and a couple of TV on. It has been great but tonight snow was blowing in and it wasn't regulating properly. I covered the control box with a half barrel and stuck a blow dryer under to dry things out. Working better now.
Ours is a Generac hat i sat on a skid from a Allied bale stooker.
