Your sky outdid itself tonight Soapweed, and you are talented enough to capture it in all it's glory.

On the bright side....at least your cows aren't on "skid row". :D

That young feller gave us both a big smile, looks like he's made of rawhide and ironwood. He must be handy at breaking loose tight bolts!

Kosmo must have the motto: If it ain't fun, don't do it! Sunflower appreciates the show even if the cows don't.

You wonder why a guy would go to so much trouble to impress his sister. When I was about his age and got done with my horse, I would leave the saddle and bridle at the barn and then ride the horse bareback to the house, using no bridle or even a halter. I would just use my hands on the side of his neck to rein, and when we arrived at the house I'd holler, "whoa," and he would stop to let me off. This worked very well for about the first three times it was tried. One evening, my sisters and I had unsaddled, turned the horses out in the pasture, and I jumped aboard my steed for a free ride to the house. He was feeling his oats, and took off running as hard as he could go. He turned a corner fast and went under a low-hanging tree branch. I hit the ground hard enough to knock the wind out of me. I was struggling and in pain when my sisters arrived to assess the damage. When it looked like I might survive, my oldest sister said, "I can see why you'd try to impress some eligible girl, but why did you do that just to put on a show for your sisters?"

It was a relevant question which I was unable to answer. :?

I too, am addicted to my semi-weekly fix of Sandhills photos! Oh to rewind to my 20s and get to try stuff like that again. I was just in a couple of the Kid's poses while a horseback but none were a purpose! Thanks!

Glad to see you're back! :D Congrats on getting your cattle sold, guess you'll be keeping and calving out a few more heifers  .

Great pictures, glad you're back :) How'd you do on your cows?

Thanks. It was a private treaty sale, and we got $750 each on these cows that will be eleven years old come March. They are a good bunch of older cows which we sold "as is," guaranteed bred but not mouthed, even though chances are that the majority still have good teeth. I think they will do well for the young man that bought them.
