They really do look good, and MAN, look at that grass.

Ranchy, I've read where you NEVER want to keep a yearling heifer that
isn't bred. If you want to keep a 2 or 3 year old that is open, you
are better off doing that because at least she proved that she
CAN GET BRED AND HAVE A CALF. With a yearling, you don't know
why she didn't settle, so it's pretty risky to keep her. I know we never
keep an open yearling.

And those opens will bring you a lot of money, Soapweed.
As much as bred heifers usually bring. The price just seems
to be going up on them.
 
The exception to the rule...we will keep a heifer that is open and give her one more chance in the fall, since we do two calving seasons,,spring and fall. If she comes up open again..she's history. Most of the time a little more age helps the breed up...but not always. Can ya believe we still have a hint of green grass in September??? :lol:
 
If I may ask, roughly what percentage of opens did yall have?
