Peach and my sister rode bicycles 52 miles on Saturday and Sunday, traveling down the George Michelson Trail in the Black Hills. This is an old railroad line which has had the tracks taken up, and then been converted to a bicycle and hiking trail.

They ended their trek at the official "start" of the trail.

Therewerefourloadsofthesegoodsteers.jpg

As I was facing north taking these pictures, the market was headed south. There were four loads of these good steers, 204 head, that a neighbor brought to town. The steers weighed 1070# and brought $91.00 per cwt. A month ago, this weight of steers would have brought at least $105 per cwt. I sold 45 preg-checked open yearling heifers today that weighed 940# and brought $97.50. They would have sure brought about $105 a couple weeks ago. There used to be some kind of ad on the radio. It stated: "In business, timing is everything." They were right.

I was wondering too how come we didn't see you on a bike...lol
Ya today wasn't the best day for any market...but tomorrow is another day...thanks for the photo's.

Good job Carol and Sybil!

What did they say about the trail? Smooth sailing, rough, any bad hills, did they camp out? Soap, give us some details. Always wanted to do that, but always too many irons in the fire.....maybe someday will be old and will make the trip on my government-paid-for powerchair.
