For what it's worth this is the text that came with the pictures:

Pig: This was taken in Northwest Territories. Dogs
were disappearing in the area. I guess they found out why.

Moose: "Isn't that just amazing. They were laying new power cables. They were strung on the ground for miles. The moose are rutting right now and very agitated. He was thrashing around and got his antlers stuck. When the men (miles away) pull the lines up with their big equipment, he went too. They couldn't get the lines right and went searching for the problem. He was still alive when they lowered him, but he had to be shot later because he was in distress. He was a huge 60 inch bull."

The moose's bad luck I can believe but I had no idea pigs grew that big - wild or domesticated  ...... or someone is very talented with the photo shop program! Maybe I should have posted this in Coffee shop or Everything else .

I can sure believe the pig one. These wild hogs we have around here get hugeeeeeee.....500-600lbs easy....so if one was somewhere that no one messed with him long enuff.....I can see one gettin that big.

SSAP:

I don't know which is more amazing the hog or the moose! OK, the moose is really unbelievable.

Yes, hogs get that big!!! I've seen some really big boars. And, you generally don't want to have a meeting with one that big either! Did you see the tusks on that guy? Wow, bet he (I'm assuming as I don't see any teats) could flat ripe a hole in a person. Geez, I bet he stunk, as does his meat.

Cool pics! Thanks for sharing SSAP...now for Aplus' skunker pig! I bet the skunk is much cuter than this guy!

Cheers---

TTB

That hawg pic looks just like the one that was killed south of me here in Ga....got the name of Hogzilla. It made all the hunting mags, news shows, CNN, NBS...the whole mess!!

Aint no way I'd eat one bite of that big hog......They aint worth a flip once they get mature...the smell's awful!!!

Right. The smell will ruin an iron skillet.

Our kids put a "baby pig" on their Dear Santa letter way back when - so that is what Santa brought them. The day came when they out grew their pen - hung about 390 and 470 each. They charged us beef rates to slaughter and wrap (and they didn't go through the scalding tank) They lived "high on the hog" - all the fresh Jersey milk we couldn't drink and barley chop (and the odd dumb chicken that dared to steal from the feed trough). They were excellent eating. Oh and the receiving fella literally walked the top plank of the surrounding slab wall to try and herd them into the kill pen - LOL - I ended up going in and pushing them the right direction

When I was a kid the neighbor brought over and gave my sister a "bum" little pig- mother had layed on the rest of the litter and he didn't want to mess with one piglet....
She raised the pig on the bottle and grew it to full grown-- named it Petunia-- since it was a gilt Dad decided to borrow a boar and breed it...No way- she wouldn't have nothing to do with another hog- thought she was a person...Never did get bred so ended up being porkchops and Sausege- and she was pushing 500 lbs by slaughter time...
