Early there was a post on pink eye and WD 40. Could you tell me how you use this on pink eye? I can't seem to find the post.

WD40 isn't something I would use to treat pink eye. There are purple spray or other antibiotic type sprays designed for that.

You need to know if you have pink eye or an eye irritation. Pink eye will turn pink or red and will have some swelling. It can be started by an irritation or by flies. Antibiotic will clear it up, sometimes a severe case will need a patch.

A good nutrition program will help prevent it, healthy cattle catch less things.

A home remedy of sugar in the eye can help scratch the eye and releve the soreness, make sure it is white granulated sugar. Some say salt, I think that would hurt, think salt in a wound.

Saline solution or clean water is good for flushing the eye...maybe one of the nurses can tell us if saline is salt... :???:

What we have found that works good on pink eye or just an eye irration is the antibiotic used to treat mastitis in dairy cows. It comes in a tube and can be bought at the local farm supply or vet clinic. This stuff works miracles on all kindas of eye infections and pink eye. I have used it on minor and severe cases works great and the animal always recovers to total health. If you want more info pm me.

I mentioned it once long time ago....I've just seen it done on several cases of pink eye and it seemed to work as good as any and surprisingly enough don't seem to irritate the critter that bad. I've seen it sprayed directly from the can into the eye and then place a patch over it. I dunno what everyone else says....I"ve seen it so can't say I don't believe it.

Anyone else ever hear of this at all or am I alone in this?

wd40 is machine grade dmso, and dmso is a good topical for an ulcerated eye. Now I wouldn't use wd40 because of the other stuff in there, and dmso is easy to get.

I use an antibiotic bleb in the eye, 5cc of ADand purple spray or a patch to protect from the sun. I will try the Today(the mastitis stuff) the next time that sure will beat having to give a shot in the eye! A good vaccine is also a great idea someone tell me if you find one.

We use the mastitis stuff that comes in a tube, too. All I do is pull out the bottom eyelid, squirt some in there, pull the eyelid back up and the top one down, squeeze them together, and rub the stuff around so it gets all over the eye. Works real good.

Early in the week, I made myself a deal. If it rained, I was going to take the team and buggy. If it didn't, I wasn't going to. The rain didn't come. Besides, it was too darned hot. I worked part of the day, and enjoyed the air conditioner in the house for part of the day. Peach Blossom was involved in a car wash and rummage sale for the youth group, so she was tired and didn't want to go to the dance anyway. Maybe next year.... :? :)
