Roses are red
Violets are blue
Buy me some cows
And I'll love you

I forgot to get you flowers
There is not a reservation in the state
But when we feed the cows this evening

I usually got a pair of "ear tags" (earrings) for Valentine's day. I gave Soapweed, fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. Sometimes we would have our first calf by now. Have you read the poem he wrote for the Valentine's Day contest? Page 340

Back in the Day

He didn't bring V day flowers since I said it was a waste and silly

The ones he brought the year before, aggravated allergies, so I fed them to the billy

Because I complained about the rips, he got ME new horse blanket seat covers for his hunting jeep, a Willy

I wasn't in the mood for him hanging around, so I added extra bean juice and cayenne to my V day chili
