Portable alley

Daniels Mfg makes a very nice alley. A friend of mine took the specs and built one with the help of his dad and brother. Theirs is portable, I think it is the 44 footer, works slick. I was so impressed I bought a stationary one but haven't used it yet, it is paid for sitting in Ainsworth, NE I just need to run down and pick it up.

I believe they make them in 32, 38 and 44 ft models. They are nice but beware they aren't cheap.

well built and keep improving them. a little deal like ---basically is--a screw jack-- to adjust width. vet's got one that starts out 2 wide, neighbor's got one starts out single wide, vet says not much difference in how easy they work.

I forgot to say the only reason I didn't buy a portable rather than a stationary was that I didn't want it whored in the country all fall. I've had a piece of equipment like that; seen way to much country and was always broken when it got home.

Anyone have any recommendations for a portable alley. Not a tub and alley just and alley. Thanks

What are you doing with this portable alley. Processing in the pasture, loading trucks, or both. I would think Stur-D or Sandland welding would be able to make something for ya if nothing else a few free-standing panels with a couple log chains could get you by in a pinch. Depend on the situation or if you could even get them into the area that you need them.

It will mostly be used for working cattle in multiple places. I have an alley I made out of 2 free standing panels, but I don't want to have a tractor around to set up the alley. I'm sure the Daniels is high quality, but I could get a lot of other things bought for the price of a Daniels alley.

Rawhide has a new portable alley and I think it has a head catch but not sure, along with a their catch pens. Have not seen one in action but I think would work pretty darn good, plus you get the coral part along with the alley. But the down side is the price on one I think they are around $20,000+.

I give my dad crap when ever we work cattle because he was a dealer for Daniels for about 20yrs. At the time he could have gotten one of those earlier alleys for $5000. We had two of them at our place that we took around and demoed and they where nice. They are priced a lot more than they where back then.
