I thought they were in business together then split.
 
Yeah, they were in business together for awhile then the honeymoon was over. When I bought my corral something was said about pirating blue prints or patent infringement. In retrospect, my corral was probably one they built shortly after going out on their own. That would explain a lot. :idea:
 
Rawhide and Linn P&P were in business together and then I"m not exactly sure what happened but they split ways. W&W was building a similar model as well. We have Linn P&P everything, and will continue to use them for everything since their close.

Having been around a Wilson and an OK Corral I prefer the Rawhide/Wrangler to those.
 
One question of good vs bad corral systems..........that is seldom asked is..............

How severe does an injury have to be in order for the doctor & hospital bills and/or Vet bills to be more of an investment than the investment for a well designed corral system?

These injuries seldom come at a good time.

Do you rent pasture? If so then you know why they are needed. If not most rental farms have no facilities and I'm not building them for the next guy. Also lots of people run cattle on stalks, hard to run a pivot over a permanent corral.
 
Yes.........I do rent pasture. Let me rephrase my post........as you seem to have totally missed my main point.

It takes very few medical bills to add up to more than the price of even the most expense system. When you consider that fact alone..........a well designed system such as a Rawhide Portable Corral System...........is cheap if it keeps you from getting hurt.

What has made this year so difficult? Do you bring them home to brand? Our friends could sure one on their forest permit in the fall.
 
Yesterday, Rawhide called me. They are picking up my corral-at my convenience-and repairing the welds on the gates, going through the hydraulics and RE-PAINTING my corral. At their expense. I really don't know what to say other than I am amazed. And very appreciative.

I'm pretty surprised by that am very impressed most companies would say trade for a new one.
 
3 M L & C, I was surprised by it too. It's easy to talk about what's wrong so I wanted to tell everyone what they did right.
 
Our farrier helps us from time to time when we need an extra hand with cattle. He was helping the day a main gate fell off. I didn't know it, but he's a friend of Rawhide's 'quality control' guy and told the guy what a POS my corral is. That was the cause of me getting the phone call yesterday. Since I'd posted the bad about my corral, I felt it was only right to tell the good. I don't know if they (Rawhide) read Ranchers. It didn't come up in our conversation but it is a for-sure co-winky-dink.
 
Bringing this back for an update........drum roll...........
Rawhide took my corral back to their shop in September. It was completely disassembled. They re-painted it and put on new decals. New pins were put in the panels, alley gates were sheeted and slam latches installed. Grommets added to protect wiring. It looks brand new. It's beautiful. I'm so happy and very appreciative for what they did. I paid to have a 10' gate added to the big side but everything else was on them.

:) Good outcome Deja, that will be a useful tool for a long time. When this came up again I re-read part and I thought I'd toss my two cents in. The homebuilt unit of Strawkings is everything and dessert to precondition calves, while pouring the cows. Good alley training, and very smooth facility. Guest star Mr. Silencer helps a lot. His new F-550 makes it a bit more portable. Anyone that even thinks they could use one, apparently hasn't borrowed one yet.

I remember your first post on this--and your humour "welds so bad I thought I'd done them....." paintjob "kinda pink and rust...."

still, you gave them full credit for what you liked and understood some of their problems. I'm glad for you that they did this---you are a class act~~
