This word might fit your cattle....not mine.

Some stupid ' buzz word' that someone came up with while drinkin' and lying to some buddies meanwhile he was trying to sell them his slow and dull witted cattle no doubt!

If you know cattle, you also know that this is a word not used by the folks who play with real money!

Enough...this is done. I'll put it on Ranch Talk also so I won't get yelled @ by Miss TeXas!

Maybe i should stay clear of this as I dont know the history behind this post.

Soggy calves are the kind of calves my Dad liked to buy his whole life and i try to raise.
The best way to describe them would be eye appeal, deep , thick, Not pencil gutted or narrow.
I have seen some 2 and 3 year old'ss that were pretty soggy but far from slow or dim witted as they curled their tail up over their back and took off down a coulee.

The best way to describe them would be eye appeal, deep , thick, Not pencil gutted or narrow.
I have seen some 2 and 3 year old'ss that were pretty soggy but far from slow or dim witted as they curled their tail up over their back and took off down a coulee.

If someone were to say, "That is a soggy bunch of calves," and if they were talking about my calves, I would feel extremely complimented.

This reminds me of when quite a few years ago we were visiting another ranch and were taking a tour of their cattle. I mentioned that the calves looked "thrifty," which I considered to be a compliment. The rancher knew I was trying to be complimentary, but he teasingly tried to make it sound like "thrifty" was a derogatory term. I think I finally convinced him that thrifty meant "doing good." :wink:

That has always been my take on Soggy Calves..........right on BMR and Soapweed.

Of course I am not a cowman.........until I can tell exactly when a cow is going to calve ahead of time I am still learning.
