Pregged heifers today.

Pregged heifers today 25 empties out of 161. Satisfied with the results considering the condition of the heifers we bought last spring and only 2 cycles. Interesting, there were more bigger framed heifers open than otherwise.

No fences were broken but we'll be glad when the MM pile of tired poles is replaced.

Snowed on us for a bit about the time we were done.
 
Things look good.Are you done haying. I'm close but people keep giving me stumpage poor quality but better than nothing.

We have about 100 more bales we could cut but with Debbie's Dad passing we have pretty much quit haying. Hay is cheap this year and the cows will like the grass. We are very close to what we need so won't have to spend much.
 
That's a good test Gcreek. Looks like you'll have a full plate come calving time :D
 
Body condition looks good on them. Do you get the vet out from Williams Lake or Anahim Lake or do it yourself? Can't remember where your closest vet is.

By the way, I'm bunking in Calgary with ol' Kaiser tonight, and he said to say Hi.

Our vet is from Edmonton, he is more cost effective than either clinic in W.L.

Ask R.K. to tell you a story I told him about a guy getting fired. :D

Could do with a lil' catching up, now and then.
 
Looks good, gcreek! You're gonna be right busy come spring. And where will you ever find material to fix that fence? :wink:

Hay is much more affordable here too this fall. Dropped by over half - bigger crop and less demand will do that. Last year - $85, this year $40.

Got some yard fence to rebuild here too this week as we're to be getting a few heifers from Big Muddy's way in the next week or two.

Poured some more concrete recently with a bit more to pour this week so there's a bit more "solid" yard to work cattle on when it gets wet in fall as it always does.
