Had a good week. We sold all of our heifers out of the yard a couple of weeks ago (just waiting on the DNA to come back). Booked a truck to send the steers and when I phoned to say they were coming, we sold them out of the yard as well.
This is a big move for us, as we have been working on getting to size and scale for direct selling for quite a few years. We have held back a lot of heifers during the last years of lower prices and despite the challenges it creates for cash flow it now appears we might have been on the right track.
I sure like the lower stress of knowing the price before the truck shows up, and knowing that the calves will have less stress going forward in life.
