Most of you will remember I raise German Shepherds
One of my pups went to the local Sheriff's Dept for drug searches and the deputy wanted to go on vacation so he left the dog ( Santos ) here for 2 weeks.
I have 5 adults and 1 pup here and we walk thru the cows once or twice a day. Santos had been thru the cows a couple of years ago as a pup and as such he was fine on our walk but the cows did not remember him. They must have perceived him as a threat to me as they surrounded me and would not let any of the dogs get close to me - - - as I walked back to the barn they moved with me and until I crossed the gate the dogs had to stay back about 100 feet.
After the third day they decided he was OK and things were back to normal - - - I guess they were trying to protect me.
"Santos" is back on duty again and helping keep our county as drug free as possible. But he sure seemed to enjoy just hanging with his family for a vacation!
Santos is now in training for search and rescue as well as his drug duties. He is a pleasure to watch, so enthusiastic and willing to learn and anxious to work!
I tried to post pictures but I can't get on photo bucket now - - - I don't know what they have done but my brozer has blocked them - - - I guess the brozer thinks the changes they made are a virus????
