My post is kinda like Jody's. I just got back from Richfield, Utah and R' Livestock Connection where i sold my calves. For the third year in a row, my little bunch of calves topped the sale for the weight group they were in. :D Both heifers and steers did pretty well. Prices have been going kinda backwards lately which bodes well for my long standing plan of buying high and selling low. I guess we'd all like as much as we can get, but it makes a guy feel good when buyers recognize what your trying to raise, quality wise, and reward ya for it. (either that or maybe i just have an uncanny ability to pick a sale day when lots of junk goes through) :D :D :D :D :D Just wished i had a couple hundred head more.

On a side note, ya'll have a fine Thanksgiving! :D I count some of you as some of my closest friends even though you are quite a ways away! :D I am honored to rub shoulders with folks like you. I always learn something, even if it's wrong, when i visit ranchers.net. Thanks for your friendship and puttin up with me.

I am thankful for my fine wife. She is my tophand, my secretary, my short order cook, my therapist, my hunting buddy, my daycare provider and my sweetheart! I have two amazing kids that make my life better than i could ever imagine. I have my folks and my in-laws, my brothers and thier families and a bunch of cousins that are as close as siblings. I have a couple close friends who let me chase cattle with them anytime i'd like. I have some great horses and a whole desert to wander around in. I have sunsets and summer rains, new calves and good old cows, big bucks and cold pepsi, a freezer full of beef and a pantry full of groceries. I have peace and quiet and freedom. If it gets any better, i dont know how? :D Thanks to each and everyone of you who have served in the military and those of you who are currently serving or have family in the service. I tip my hat to you and wish i could could shake your hand and buy ya a pepsi! :tiphat: And THANKS to the Lord for making all i have, including the air i breath, possible. I will do my best to live a decent enough life to deserve your blessings. Just cause i probably can't do it, doesnt mean i shouldnt give it my best shot! :D Thanks! Thanks a lot! :D

Amen to that, H that is some of the nicest words i have read in a long time!! That is exactly how this country was set to be by our forefathers. God bless all and have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!! SB

It makes life soooo much better, when you realize just how much you have to be thankful for.
Have a happy Thanksgiving one and all, and H, give your whole bunch a special Howdy from here.

Heck should have called. Richfield, Utah is little over 100 miles away I could have run down and bought you a cold pepsi.
You need to be weaned off that stuff some day.....
great to hear about your calves

Congratulations on your calf sale! Something most of us can be thankful for is buyers who recognize quality and are willing to pay for it....and may they also be rewarded at sale time!

We have many others in the beef business who are working hard to make the best use of our high q. cattle by finding ways to add value to that critter by giving consumers more of what they want when they buy beef. It sure wouldn't hurt to wish them well and thank them for what they do, while we are thankful for them.

Family, of course is high on the 'list', and especially for our six month old first great-grand child, a beautiful, lively, healthy little girl. I still have one uncle, but other than that, we are 'the oldest generation' on both sides of our family. He is a real treasure and doing fine at age 88, though pretty lonely since losing his wife of almost 70 years a few months ago. We are especially thankful for his acceptance that she is in a better place. He seems almost happy for her not to be suffering any longer, and works at keeping busy and enjoying his extended family and friends. And, they are of that generation who could be happy with so little in the way of comfort during some mighty tough times.

Taking a lesson from him, I am thankful for family and especially the friends who invited us to spend the day with them. I can even appreciate, though not be truly thankful for, this miserable cold/bronchitis I'm battleing today. It could be worse! I could feel too miserable to sit up and play on the computer or read. And my 'other half' has gone to the dinner and surely will be bringing more food than we need back to me for a later meal! I'm a little sorry for myself that I won't be seeing any of my younger grandchildren because I don't want to expose them to this 'bug'!

I'm also thankful that I see several of them every day, and will be going to 'the city' next week and see the ones I'm missing today.

One surely doesn't have to look far to see so many people far worse off than we are.........and wonder why we are so well blessedto live where we do with the people in our community, and useful work that helps us live good lives.
