How can a young man educated at Berkeley have a proper outlook on anything the rest of America is or thinks? He's been indoctrinated by the most liberal minds in the world. His viewpoint is skewed. Race relations are worse today than they were when I was a kid but racial injustice is way lower than it was in the 60's and 70's and I personally think it's nonexistent , unless, like montanacowgirls post said, it's been reversed.
 
Don't have a dog in this fight really but there are a few things that should be pointed out.

1) Montana Cowgurl did not write this post, she posted something that was mailed to her, so to take on a perception of self esteem based on this because you believe she wrote it is erroneous.

2) You disregard the fact that it is okay for comments from minorities about white, crakcers, honkeys but if a white person says the equivelant it is wrong and racist.

3) I lived with 4 Americans when I was in college. One happened to be of Jewish decent, one happened to be of Chines decent, one was from Africa and one was from India. 3 of the 4 I talked to (Guess on which one differed) referred to themselves simply as Americans, 2 were first generation Americans. To hyphanate their ethnicity offended them because in their mind, and in reality, they were no less American than you or I am.

4)As long as we have different ruls for differnt ethnicities you will never have equality. Equal protection means equal protection... Equal rights mean equal rights.. We can't do a damn thing about what happend in this country's fist 2 centuries but we can make the next two better and we don't need racism justified with "Because Whitie beat us down".
 
Don't worry about a Berkeley grad making judgments about your self-esteem, montana cowgurl. Or judgments about anything else. Like RR said, the normal people in the country don't pay any attention to them, anyway.

I'd trust your judgment before I'd trust the judgment of all of the grads and faculty from Berkeley. :wink:

You're so right Mrs. Greg. The whole "low self-esteem" put down is just an overused bunch of garbage that touchy-feely libs like to throw around. MCG has her own fan club right here!
 
Heres for you OLD Dog, I have more problems with you Californicators than I have with people of color of any sort. My daughter never wrote that, she posted it from another source just to let people know. I can tell you all kinds of stories about being the lessor because I am white, male, and under 60.

Ol' Andy sure has a way of putting things into perspective. I'm white, middle-aged, and of European descent, but I'm an American. I get kinda chokey when the National Anthem [ of the U.S. of course] is played.
My great-grandparents immigrated. They leaned English. There were no double instructions on anything, written in English and German, so they could understand them.
What ever happened to; "When in Rome........."?

I don't get goose bumps when I see the flag or the national anthem played, but I do remember back in 1951 when I was inducted into the army, when I took that one step foreward. A certain feeling came over me. I suppose the ritual or what ever you might call it was theatrical and designed to do that. Anyway I did get the feeling that I was a part of those who were willing to stand together and defend the my country, and it's beliefs, the country that I loved and respected. I don't think I was alone with my feeling that day, I bet most everyone there felt the same.

I bet, that most who are serving in our armed forces today, feel the same way.

We all know you're a good girl, and just wanted to share something you found interesting. I don't know why you being 14 has anything to do with it, but I for one, think your self-esteem is so much better than mine was at your age, that you're gonna succeed in whatever you attempt.
