Remember I am blonde.......

Only a BLONDE would ask a tile question to a carpenter.

Mike, only you would make that observation!!!

Katrina, get a floor & wall tile adhesive making sure it is for high moisture. Lowe's here has Mapi Type 1 in a small premixed tub. Clean the back of the tile and the area where the tile goes as best you can...beings it's going to be temporary, not too critical. More important, clean all the old grout off the tile and wall where the tile goes. Small tile--6" or less--use a v-notch trial and butter the back of the tile. Larger tile use a 1/4" square notch trial. Use a putty knife and butter the wall just enough to wet the surface--taking off most of the adhesive. Push the tile firmly in place and put some spacers in the bottom grout line to keep the tile from sliding down. Let it dry for 24 hours or their abouts.
Next day, get a tub of premixed grout and a rubber trial. Use the rubber trial to squeeze the grout into the grout line at a 45 to the line. Don't worry about getting the grout on the tiles. Let it dry for about 15-20 minutes, then use a damp sponge to wipe off the excess grout...clean the sponge often in a bucket of water. After the initial cleaning, let it dry for an hour or so, then clean again. Repeat this until the cloudy haze is gone.

Bit of advise when you redo it...use big tile...it will go a lot faster!!!

After you use all these fancy-smancy glues etc called for here.....make sure you slap some ' duck' tape over it to hold it all on for day or so!!!

If you have " duck' tape, a hammer and .410 shotgun....you can rule the world!!!!

Not "Trial"......It's "TROWEL"!

The size of tile somewhat depends on the levelness of the surface where it's applied.

Hint: Small tile can be placed on a more uneven surface than can large ones.

Robertmac. I can tell you're a carpenter. Not a tile layer.
