Debbie's parent were married 62 years ago in Colorado. They have 2 marriage licences. Both identical except her name is on the top line of one and his is on top on the other.

No one that we've asked has heard of this before. Was/is it a requirement in Colorado to have 2?

We were married 57 years ago in Colorado and our marriage certificate shows me first and my lovely bride on the next line. Mr. is preprinted on the form on the first line. There is no state requirement thatwe have two certificates.

If your parents both had names that could be either for a man or a woman, (eg. Dale and Bobby) and if the wife's name was always to be placed first on the form, maybe they made 2 because they weren't sure which was the female.
