R-CALF USA feels that Alberta is the hot spot !!!

Bill, "Sorry but LEO the Ly'in has said alot of things to contradict what you try to get everyone else to believe Sandhusker."

Horse crap. Bring it.

Bill, "We are still waiting for the R-Klan press release denouncing the reduction in testing proposed by USDA."

Somebody here already made that comment and I provided it. Pay attention.

Bill, "Doesn't imported beef also pay into the check-off?"

Yep, and we have no problem relieving them of their obligation.

Bill, "USDA made the changes on BSE policy on the advice of the OIE and with the realization that BSE was and is at the same risk level as in Canada although I don't understand why they had to get caught hiding it."

Horse crap. OIE has never made a change without being lobbied. The US made changes only in an attempt to justify "trade" with you.

As to quote Sandusker "It's in the archives!"

Comment? Notice I asked for a PRESS RELEASE. R-Klan seems to issue them quite regularly in anything concerning Canada and BSE. If they are truly concerned about the "food safety" aspect of BSE where is their statement regarding reduced testing in the US?

Thanks for clarifyinfg that

Read the OIE recommendations regarding the first Canadian BSE investigation one of which which "encouraged" the US to relax restrictions with Canada!

The major - perhaps the ONLY - strategy multi-nationals use against "us" that works is 'divide and conquer'.

They threaten us with our neighbours as 'competition': "If you won't sell them at this low price, I'll just have to go to X. He's got slightly better animals at 10 cents per pound less. I just came by here first because we're friends and I knew you were in a bind..."

They totally lie about what other markets are doing!! For example we are told Australian beef captured the Japanese market and is much cheaper, yet the reality is they are now struggling to be price-competitive with the miniscule amounts of US meat which is being flown in!

Up here they lie about their own competitors where they exist, spread rumours about small packers to both buyers and sellers. I have no reason to assume they do anything different south of the border.

AS LONG AS PRODUCERS ARE DIVIDED THEY REMAIN CONQUERED!!

Just for fun, here are some popular phrases and their real meanings:

Sound Science - what follows is total B.S.
Harmonize - you are about to get screwed by regulations.
Industry - the people who sent us huge campaign contributions.
Stakeholder - not you.
Market Price -
(When you are selling) - the lowest price on the planet - there is guy in a shack in Peru who is retiring and has one animal ready at this price.
(When you are buying) The highest price on the planet - there is a guy in the middle of the Sahara that will pay this much for one pound of 'it' if we also kick in a gallon of water.
Consultation - a closed meeting with industry (not you) and stakeholders (also not you) to justify a forgone conclusion which will adversely affect you.
Competition - imaginary producers who would sell at that price if they had anything.
WTO - a way to protect big business from the uncertainties of democracy and good government.
Risk management - unloading the risks of my business to you.
Partnership (also called 'working with you') - a way for me to share what you have.
HACCP - paperwork to prove it's not my fault.
On farm food safety - See! It's the farmer's fault.
Downer - unfit livestock I got caught with.
Surveillance program - looking the other way.
Regulation - an expensive impediment to production that applies to those with less tham $100 million in assets.
Assistance - (also aid, grant, or subsidy) public moneys paid to stakeholders (not you) and blamed on producers (you).

Using some of them in a paragraph:
After consultations with industry and a report based on sound science we have decided to harmonize our surveillance program with (insert country name here). This will result in changes to regulations to improve on farm food safety. Assistance will be provided to stakeholders.

Make a game of it - issue your own 'statements'.

We (NCBA), after consultations with USDA and the Packers, are here to help you with the farm food safety. You producers need to harmonize with us on the regulations of sound science, so we can screw you to give assistance to the big packers.
We, the pardnership feel the competion of the WTO is needed to get a fair market price for the stakeholder. The risk managment of the pardnership will prove the sound science of the rule changes, the need of the monoply of the packers to our surveilance program of downers. If you feel like you got screwed the contact HACCP. If all else fails we can get you a real deal on a John Deere if you would just step up and join our group.

It is dry here. Going to be a long fall if we don't get some rain. Won't be long and it will be hunting season and that scares me with this fire dangers. I have been on so many fires it would take four hands to count. Are you daughters on the rodeo team? Heard they shut it down last year.

Yeah- I just heard the county fire warden talking about the number of ranchs that may close to hunting if the fire danger doesn't change...He said that if they start having fires they may go to the Governor and see if they can get the season postponed....

Daughters aren't on the team, altho the youngest was going out with one of the team members last year and one local bronc rider was on the team...Sounded like they had a mess down there- I know some transferred or were talking of transferring to other schools- all I ever heard was "coach problems" and didn't ask no more...I didn't think you could fire old Wally up enough to have any problems  Couple of last years team were out here at the house the other day- but I was busy and didn't get a chance to ask them whats happening this year.....Maybe I can get filled in when the girls come home this weekend...They're going to try out the new road between Terry and Brockway and see what that roads like now that its all paved.....
