After receiving 1.25 inch's of rain in the last 3 days- this is what my yard looks like...This country isn't used to so much moisture in winter, followed by April rain... :o

My feed wagon for the last couple of days...Still have a handful of cows we haven't got hauled out (because of the rain)- so instead of rutting everything up I just hauled them out a couple of idiot cubes on the 4 wheeler.....

But this is the reward...Country is really greening up fast...The only thing that could have been better is if all the wheat fields had been seeded- but that would be sounding greedy... :D

On another site they were discussing a calf out of a registered angus cow- that was AIed to an angus bull that ended up with white everywhere....Here is mine...A 98 model old gal- that I bought at a big dispersion (700+ head) as a commercial bred heifer...She was a cutback from the big lots and I picked her up a couple hundred dollars cheaper- kind of ugly but she hasn't been too bad a cow....The folks that had her told me that she was a calf out of one of their black purebred angus cows that they had A.I.ed to an angus bull- and they had no idea where the white came from...My guess is the AI stud goofed up- and slipped something else in the straw.....My neighbor had the prettiest holstein looking calf come out of a pure angus cow one year-- and there isn't any holstein bulls in 200 miles...

Oldtimer,
We got 3/4 inch. some came as snow. I heard the Milk River valley got more all the way along. Of those pictures, I was thinking that other black & white animal might be a better all round one.

So THAT's what green grass looks like  . It's trying to green-up here, but at 7800 feet, it doesn't happen very fast. Looks like we're in for more rain/snow this weekend. Thanks for posting pics and giving me some hope! :D

Oldtimer,
A young bottom dweller grasshopper like yourself should know that your formula maybe in correct. In your situation the formula should go like this:
RAIN + SUNSHINE= MOSQUITOES

If that was a video that you was showing, I bet you could see the puddles moving with them thar Larvae.

I was just thinking of that a few minutes ago while I was out pumping the water out of a low spot by my loading chute so it can dry out faster...But I didn't see any wigglers-- YET.... Suns supposed to come out tomorrow...

I better get up and around the rest of the pasture fence- as we got .95 up there and every hole already had water in it from the melting snow, so a little sun will have them things hatching all over up there too....

We are still white here. Luck y you for just getting the straight wet instead of the frozen wet. :D
Got a snowman in my garden right now.

Got some "widow makers" in the trees behind the house. Got to be careful. kids are not allowed to go sledding down the hill back there.

The green grass is looking really good. We got about 1.5" of rain this week. Things are nice and muddy here too. We didn't get the snow you got last winter and missed all the moisture that went across the southeast part of the state so we were really glad to get the rain. I would have liked to have had my hay barley in the ground but it will grow just as well now that I have moisture to seed it into.

YIKES-- I am glad that stayed west and north of me....I'm tired of winter and ready for spring...I'll take the mud anyday...

Yep- Mud was just getting dried up enough around here that you could get around a little--even got a bale hauled into the bulls after days of carrying them idiot cubes on the 4 wheeler-- and now this morning its starting to rain again....
Weather boys said that this front has put down 1/4 to 1/2 inch west of us- and are predicting rain most the day as it moves east...Saying we could get another 1/4 inch....30 mph west wind makes it kind of miserable out there tho...

We got a 1/4 inch so far this morning. Seems like more, better check the gauge. Anyway, not planting today. Not expecting much more.
Today is the first day probably since October that I didn't have to feed any hay to something. I not completely done, a few animals around, with round bale feeders can go a few days without feeding.
I guess I'll stay in get some bookwork done. If I can stay away from these sites

Sun just came out- wind went down a little and it looks like our rainy day is done...After a whole miserably nasty day of off and on drizzle- we ended up with just a little over 1/10th- just enough to get your feet muddy....Sounds like some areas west of us got over an inch....
