Got woke up about 1AM by another wicked lightning storm--lightning popping every direction around us...Got up and started arguing with Tam on the Bull Sessions- and then it started putting down pea size hail and then turned to rain...Rained fairly good for about 1/2 an hour, but looks like its about done now...Hopefully its enough to stop any fires set by the lightning...

Rain gauge shows .25--at least I know it hasn't fogot how :D

We had a storm roll through here yesterday that put down some pretty big droplets....just enough, however, to dampen the clothes that I had just hung on the line.....FIGURES!!! Not enough to measure, though!!

Ahhh, but now they will smell "raindrop" fresh!

Boy that lightning was wicked...There are crews working around the clock pouring, laying, and babysitting concrete on the runways of the old B-52 base that Boeing bought and uses for testing-- I guess last night when the storm rolled in the lightning got so bad they abandoned the concrete and all jumped in vehicles to escape it- but a bolt hit one pickup and threw the driver around so bad that they had to haul him to the hospital and have him treated for cuts and bruises and checked out for broken bones...

I was going to go out at 6AM and check on some cows - but still little storms rolling thru the area with thunder still sounding- so think I'll wait until tomorrow....Don't want to give ol Ma Nature too tempting a shot...

This thread should be renamed, "NO RAIN"...

Had a fire by the little town of Plevna yesterday. Started in the middle of a CRP field...and there was no one out there. Now that is scary!!!! It
burned half of the cemetary. Our fire crews have the best equipment so that helps, but there was some concern about the town. Baker and Ekalaka fire departments were on standby...but Baker was out fighting
a fire in a different direction. We had a fire west of Plevna on Monday.

Sorry about the lightening and the problems it caused in your neck of
the woods, OT.

Where is all this heat coming from and when is it going to end?

I'm not putting much faith in this- but the weather boys have put out their prediction for August and are predicting normal temps and above normal moisture for eastern Montana... :? :???:

Normal August temp for up here is 82... I'd take that :)
Normal August moisture for up here is about 1.4 inches....

Like my partner said this morning that means we probably will not only be cutting 5 bushel wheat, but we'll spend all month cutting wet 5 bushel wheat

Boy that was a bad lightening storm here too, it was close to one of those that lite up the sky constantly. Fortunately (whew) we had enough rain to put out any fires. Hope we don't have any that spring up today that were set last night and then knocked down with the rain. Cowpies and sagebrush can smolder for days. FH- maybe thats what happened in the fire you were talking about.
OT I think I would rather like the idea of taking the whole month of August to cut our 5 bushel wheat. We'll take the moisture!! Leave's some time for fishing or vacation, whatever that is, course around here we wouldn't even hardly know what vacation and fishing is!! LOL

We might be breaking the dry cycle here. Talking to the neighbor and she said she figured we have had 3.6 inches for July so far and than this morning I work up to the pitter plat, splat of rain on the window above my bed. Befor going to town today Iwent and checked the gauge and we had another .6 inches. We really need to recharge our subsoil, a couple more good weeks like this and we could be in real good shape for the fall. Grass doesn't frow much in July and August because of the heat but everything is really getting green.

You can't win an argument with Tam- she comes from just north of me in Swede country- can't win an argument with a Swede- Kind of like arguing with a blonde, as by the time they figure out what the argument is about, you've already forgot.... But sometimes its fun watching them try

Your pretty brave OT knowing that Tam doesn't hang out at the coffee shop. trouble is your a slow learn cause you do argue with her alot.

We did get .5 this afternoon but not very wide spread. I got out of the north end of the ranch without getting very wet.
