Since Thursday morning we have had 3 inches of rain!!! Sure beats last year, where we barely had 5 inches of moisture all year!!!

We could sure use some of that here it's not looking very good right now, not much for grass coming on and alot of the alfalfa is dead so not going to be much to put up unless it is irrigated.

Good old Bucking Horse Sale weekend is coming thru like in the days of old... Used to be you could almost always count on the BHS bringing in some moisture of some type (snow/rain/?)... I guess tonight they are getting rain and hail with the storms going thru - but some areas around Miles are reporting an inch of moisture... Slowed down a little street dancing- but hasn't slowed down the bronc riding or beer drinking I'm sure... And as long as its raining you will have happy cowboys and cowgirls!

Up here north of the Missouri- we've had mixed amounts (from a tenth to an inch)- with about a 1/2 inch here at the house in the last couple of days.... :D

We had 2 inches here at the house where it does'nt count about a 1/2" at the ranch. It's going to storm tonight again it's very muggy and we've got grass. Good thing I've got 2 days feed left. :P

We got another inch last night. Yesterday, the Niobrara was running high and muddy, with lots of posts floating down. Someone is missing some fence up river.

We have had 2 at the ranch and at a new lease we picked up I spoke to a neighbor and he got 3 inches. They use to talk about a million $ rain, these days I guess you have to change it and call it a trillion $ rain :) Sure is nice. It saved a lot of people if not everyone! I saw some photos on facebook of dams looking plum full :)

We had a brief shower but not over a tenth. Now its thinking about hailing and pretty cloudy. Congrats to all who got the rains! :D Hope the Texas folks get lots soon.

.95" here again last night, Looks like there could be more coming. The wind is still in the easterly direction and the barometer is still low. The forecast is for a couple of days of sunshine then rain towards the last half of the week. According to radar maps it look like you guys west of us are or will be getting rain too.

This is the time of the year when we get or at least expect to get the more general rains.

We have been blessed with a total of 1.7 inches of rain, from Thursday through this evening. It is very much appreciated, and life is quite worth living again. I told the Kosmo Kid just yesterday that I'd rather have a two inch rain than win the $600 million dollar lottery. With the rain, life would get easier. If a person won the lottery, life would get much more difficult. All your old friends would abandon you, and new friends would be coming out of the woodwork. I'd take the rain anytime instead. Besides, a person would need to buy a ticket to have a chance, and I neglected to buy a ticket. :-)

We came down to SD on Saturday afternoon as our grandson graduated Sunday evening. It has rained here for over 48 hours straight!!! The Brezel arena next to the interstate a bit east of Whitewood it totally underwater and that was yesterday morning! I have no idea how much, but I bet well over 3". At the ranch this morning we had 2.2" and it's still raining there.
Windy everywhere.

Over on the North Dakota/South Dakota border, they had a severe storm.
Hail 6-8' (yes, feet) deep in the draws; 3' deep on the roads. One guy
found a cow in the fork of a tree from a flash flood and we have heard he
lost 20-40% of his calves. I'm hoping that number is on the high side;
if he did lose that many I plan to find out if there is a fund set up for him.
That would be a tough loss to take for anyone and maybe if everyone chips in a little it would be easier to bear.

What is it that happens to the grass after a hailstorm like that? Does it freeze the grass and set it back? I just can't remember.

I hope everyone gets rain; no more hail or tornadoes. Glad to hear the moisture is wide spread. Many in our area said if we didn't get moisture during the bucking horse sale, all we would get from there on would be thunderstorms.

We had about 2 inches come down in 30 minutes the other day. It was raining so hard the cows actually went in the barn without me having to trick them!

Just checked and we have had 23 inches so far this year. I'm in Southern Kentucky. I hope it keeps this up. Maybe not as much, but a good shower once a week would be awsome!
