A neighbor likes to tell a story about a old rancher that when company was getting their coats on to leave would turn the yard light on and when the went out the door the light would be off before they got to their vehicle. :D

JF Ranch and his wife were visiting another couple one evening. The hour got late, and they left. They hadn't driven a quarter of a mile when JF remembered he'd left his gloves back at the home where they had visited. They turned around and went back, but all the lights in the house were already off. The gloves were picked up at another time.

Peach's step-dad, Royal, and his first wife, Belva, were invited to another couple's home to celebrate New Year's Eve. Both couples were hard working ranchers. About ten o'clock that night the hosting man fell asleep at one end of the davenport, and his wife fell asleep on the other side. Royal winked at Belva, and they quietly donned their hats and coats and departed to finish the New Year's Eve celebration at their own home.

That's funny! I do that to my mother in law when she has been a PITA to me playing cards. She has sense put a small flashlight on her keychain!

Reminds me of our elderly neighbor when we lived in SW Montana. He and his wife were just great people. Everyone loved them and called him "Applejack."

We went to visit once evening and it was about 8 pm. It doesn't get dark very early during the summer in that area. It can stay pretty light until close to 11 pm or so. Anyhow, Mr. FH and his mom and dad and I went to see them. They must have already gone to bed, unbeknownst to us. We knocked and waited a bit and pretty soon the door flew open and Mr. Applejack said in kind of a rush, "COME IN. COME IN. TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES! TAKE OFF YOUR CLOTHES!" Then he quickly shook his head and said, "what am I saying, what am I saying???" :) :)

His wife was gone and he got up and put on his clothes in a rush to get to the door....... :P  He was embarrassed about that for days. :D

One time I was to meet a writer from National Geographic to show him the area for a book he was working on about the Canada/US border from coast to coast. Any way met him in town around 8am and we drove down to the fellow that has the buffalo effigy on his place. well he met us at the door in his gotch and said come in. Him paraded around making coffee before he finally went and put on a pair of pants.

he was a funny little old guy. people would take the kids to see his lambs and he would take pictures of the kids and sell them back to the parents. wether they wanted them or not.
