Raining to the west

Got what meadow I had cut baled before it rained, got about 20 acres of grazing alfalfa in 3 small pieces laying down but stem were still too green , oh a light wash shouldn't hurt things.

Calling for snow in the high mountains this weekend...95 today- cold front moving in Thursday is supposed to take temps down into the 60's and 70's- with more moisture by the weekend...
Weather folks are saying 2 weeks of cool and moist and long range predicting coldest fall in 5 years (possibly 25)......

high here today was only 72 , 56 right now

Is that cold fall prediction part of the 'Polar Vortex' scare going around now? Sure hope that prediction for a cold and snowy September is totally wrong. And just when it seemed weather forecasting might be getting more accurate!!!

We have long believed there isn't much that would help ranchers more than really accurate long range, at least a month at a time, weather forecasts. Even if it is what we don't really want, knowing for sure would help be better prepared for it.

We have been staying about 15 degrees F below normal for about 3 years now - - - in summer that is not to bad except the corn requires more drying. So far we have not had a single 90F day this year - - - we normally have about 30 in a summer and normally have at least 5 100F or higher days.

But then the winters are not so nice. We just keep getting cold sooner and staying cold longer and setting new records for how cold - - - Al Gore where are you?
