Ranchers will be arrested in Michigan for owning black pigs

being scheduled to happen in Michigan?


(NaturalNews) The state of Michigan is only days away from engaging in what can only be called true "animal genocide" -- the mass murder of ranch animals based on the color of their hair. It's all part of a shocking new "Invasive Species Order" (ISO) put in place by Michigan's Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This Invasive Species Order suddenly and shockingly defines virtually all open-range pigs raised by small family farms to be illegal "invasive species," and possession of just one of these animals is now a felony crime in Michigan, punishable by up to four years in prison.

The state has said it will "destroy" these pigs beginning in April, potentially by raiding local farms with government-issued rifles, then shooting the pig herds while arresting the members of the family and charging them with the "crime" of raising pigs with the wrong hair color. This may truly be a state-sponsored serial animal killing spree.

Reality check: You may think this story is some kind of early April Fools prank, but it isn't. This is factually true and verifiable through the documents, videos and websites linked below. The state of Michigan seriously intends to unleash a mass murder spree of pigs of the wrong color beginning April 1.

Yet these are the very pigs that farmers and ranchers in Michigan have been raising for decades. The state doesn't seem to care about this, and there are indications that this ISO may have been nudged into position by the conventional pork industry as a tactic to wipe out its competition of local, specialty ranching conducted by small families and dedicated farmers who don't work for the big pork corporations. The state of Michigan has issued a document describing nine "traits" of what they call "feral pigs" which they claim should be destroyed on April 1.

Those traits include having the wrong color on the tip of the hair or even being born with striped hair. The traits are written so that virtually all pigs raised by family ranchers across the state of Michigan will be targeted for destruction by the state of Michigan starting April 1. Farmers who defend their livestock may be arrested as felons and charged with multiple felony crimes by the state.

Here's some of the language from the Michigan document describing which animals are to be destroyed. Remember: For a pig to qualify as "feral" according to state tyrants, it only has to exhibit ONE of these traits, not all of them:

1) Bristle-tip coloration: exhibit bristle tips that are lighter in color (e.g., white, cream, or buff) than the rest of the hair shaft.

2) Dark point coloration: exhibits "points" (i.e., distal portions of the snout, ears, legs, and tail) that are dark brown to black in coloration, and lack light-colored tips on the bristles.

3) Coat coloration: exhibit a number of coat coloration patterns: solid black, solid red / brown, black and white spotted, black and red / brown spotted.

4) Underfur: exhibit the presence of underfur that is lighter in color (e.g., smoke gray to brown) than the overlying dark brown to black bristles/guard hairs.

5) Juvenile coat pattern: exhibit striped coat patterns -- a light grayish-tan to brown base coat, with a dark brown to black spinal stripe and three to four brown irregular longitudinal stripes with dark margins along the length of the body.

6) Skeletal appearance: Structures include skull morphology, dorsal profile, and external body measurements including tail length, head-body length, hind foot length, ear length, snout length, and shoulder height.

7) Tail structure: Straight tails.

8) Ear structure: Erect ear structure.

9) "Other characteristics not currently known to the MDNR that are identified by the scientific community."

Did you catch that last one? So now the so-called "scientific community" can simply invent whatever trait they want and the state of Michigan will legalize the mass murder of all ranch animals displaying that trait.

What's clear from all this is that Michigan bureaucrats plan to bring guns and handcuffs to ranches all across Michigan, shooting their family livestock dead and ruining their farming operations. They then plan to arrest these ranchers as felons and separate them from their families, then charge them with felony crimes.

This is all being done under the mantra of "government is good! Government protects you!" It's being pushed under the guise of protecting people from "invasive species," yet what the Michigan bureaucrats don't tell anyone is that now your local food producers have had their own ranch animals placed on that list!

That's the trick here: Michigan has declared farm animals to be an invasive species!

After April 1, "our hope is to be invited onto farms voluntarily. We will be doing inspections. Follow-up inspections may be needed, depending on what we find," Golder said. "We will, in many cases, ask property owners to handle the depopulation on their own."

Now that exotic boars are no longer allowed, some farms may host swine hunts using plain old domestic porkers such as those found on a farm. "Nothing in the Invasive Species Order would prevent ranches from selling hunts for domestic swine. The order outlaws a particular type of pig, not the purpose for which the animals are used," Golder said.

Nor does the invasive species order, aimed at reducing Michigan's feral swine population, include domestic swine breeds such as those that have found a niche market among chefs and foodies.

The breeders of Mangalitsa pigs, for instance, were concerned that their animals might fall under the ISO, Golder said. A letter from DNR director Rodney Stokes states in part, "It is the DNR's understanding that purebred Mangalitsa swine do not exhibit characteristics listed in the Declaratory Ruling, other than potentially striped piglets. The Invasive Species Order would not prohibit purebred Mangalitsa swine based solely on this characteristic."

However, in the event that breeders have crossed Mangalitsas with Eurasian wild boar or any of the swine outlawed under the ISO, those hybrid animals would still be prohibited, Golder said.

When it comes to feral, wild, pigs running loose, "it continues to be legal and encouraged to take feral swine opportunistically in Michigan," Golder said -- that is, shoot them if you see them.

Under the law, "a person with a concealed pistol permit or valid hunting license can kill swine running at large on public property; landowners or other authorized persons can kill swine running at large on private property; and local animal control officers and law enforcement can kill swine running at large on either public or private land," Golder said.

feral hogs are a serious problem in many areas.. while it may be pressure from hog producers.. and the large growing muslim population..

more then likely it is to shut down the many new CRP "hunting ranches"

Uh..... The title is funny. I think the first issue is how do you "own" something "ferral"?

If a pig is ferral, then there is no owner- just like all other forms of wildlife. Who are you going to fine? The land owner for pigs that no one controls? If that occurred here it would just be another tax, as I don't know anywhere free from pigs these days.

If a pig is confined and domesticated, it is no longer ferral but domestic.

I don't see this lasting. This ruling would hinder a breeders ability to select for certain phenotypical traits that would wipe out the majority of the cattle industry. On that alone, I think the case would be won.

I can see it being a crime for releasing pigs to become ferral, and that I would support.

Montana did much the same thing- when they outlawed and closed up all the game farms already operating-- even tho the animals within them had been purchased by the owners...
It was done to keep inferior/untrue genetic animals from escaping and mating with the pure wild strains-- and to prevent the spread of diseases like TB, Brucellosis, and CWD to the wild herds and domestic livestock...

I am sure there is some truth in that, but many are now seeing the result of state and federal programs on land... combined with incentives to turn land into unproductive idle acreage


some of these marginal lands have been bought as hunting lands.. and stocked with game.. some introduced.. some encouraged.. and then absentee landowners stop in for an occasional hunt.. and some charge others to hunt... calling it a ranch.. or game preserve.. :roll:

most of these guys have little concern for the damage and havoc their business has on the property and their neighbors property..

and to top it off some collect a check for keeping the land out of production or idle...

so now law abiding conscience ranchers and farmers are stuck with another regulation... because some one brought in semi-domesticated game and released them... or didn't put alot of effort into making sure they didn't escape..

Feral hogs seems to be a tough term for the DNR to specifically interpret. Feral hogs to most of us means hogs that live in the wild and are damaging to the countryside. After they have been wild for a time, they usually turn vicious. The ISO to be imposed on April 1 considers all but eight breeds of hogs to be feral. Those eight breeds are used in confinement buildings. That means the DNR can drive onto farms and homesteads that raise other breeds of swine and kill them on the spot.

People like myself question how the DNR can legislate agriculture bills. The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) came up with this law. It has the blessings of Michigan's hog confinement lobbyists who say that feral hogs put all hogs at risk because of diseases.
