One other thing to consider IL. Are you or your wife Norvegian??? I think those of Norvegian heritage tend to be the dominant recessive sarcastic gene carriers......
 
After reading my post, I don't know how someone could be a "dominant, recessive" carrier :-)

Since your wife is a bit Norvegian, that's where you have to watch for that recessive sarcasm gene. If your children are less than 1/4 blood, your children may seem just fine for many years, and then it will surface out of the blue. My guess is when they are in their early teens. Of course, I don't know how the Swedish influence will impact them.......... :) :)
 
Soap, thanks for the pics! We saw one of those calf taggers at the MATE show in Feb. We were wondering how strong they were built, because we could just imagine a mean cow still attempting to get to her calf and tearing the box up :shock: We have 1 mean cow I think would do just that :shock: Maybe she'll end up open and go to town but it seems the mean ones you have to cull for meanness not for reproductive reasons. Anyway, I could see our 1 mean cow going for the driver of the 4-wheeler :shock:

Also wondering if the cow picked up her calf and started running. Do you catch them at a dead run? We have too many trees and rocky hills around here it prolly wouldn't work very well here.
 
We had it show up in a catalog sent to us.. I was tempted, sent for information on it but the price was a bit more than I wanted/was willing to pay because I just have places it wouldn't work.. Now, we have three "newer" pastures that it would work great on as long as they didn't get into a tree line... Problem, they always calve in the tree line..I have had to out race a cow on an ATV in reverse with a calf across my lap... That was fun.. She gone.

Judith... Judith... Judith.... I do indeed have ancestors from sveden... that has to explain my brothers facination with Saabs... Of course, he is more protypical swede.. Big melon, 6 and a half feet tall and used to have blond hair till it turned brown

The only good news is... We have never gotten our craniums stuck to the point where we can't unstick ourselves....
 
Katy--there would be NOTHING recessive there. Definitely the dominant traits of stubbornness and hot-headedness. Are you enough German to cut hay "wit a swatter?" :lol: :lol:
 
im half german half irish exactly! I am kinda stubborn sometimes but never hot-headed! :lol: ok im always stubborn and hot-headed you got me:P And I dont understand the swatter thing all i can think of is a fly swatter!
