Ratio seems high

Ya'll best be careful. You get twin numbers like that and your neighbors might decide to string ya up. There were folks out here who's cows would have 6 or 7 head a year. Makes a guy wish for a rope.

We have been in the cow calf business for almost 30 years now and I can honestly say that I have only had about 5 sets of twins. In my dairy herd though that is a different story I average out of 200 calvings a year about 2 dozen sets of twins. When I talked to my vet about it he said the only thing he could think would cause this is that I sencro most of my dairy herd and that might have something to do with it. Has anyone ever heard of this?

This is probably an antique observation, but usually the twins and the troubles come early in calving...

haytrucker, you are correct. in my herd they usualy come in the first 10 days or in the last 20 .my first 2011 twins out of 150 head commercial&pb cows came today.A pair of hfrs.out of a 7 year old cow,not quite identicals. the cow cleaned within 90 minutes. which i was pleased to see,as usualy twin mothers are slow to clean last year in my pureberd simmentals i had 2 sets out of 20 cows the year before i had 3 sets out of 20 cows
