I thought it was here. Most of the crop is in and the cattle are out to farther a field locals. Went to make sure all was OK with them this morning. Can't drive anywhere and saw very few. It is rather wet and soggy.

The creeks are fired back up. There is going to be some grass here.

The first field I seeded. It was up nice. The water is starting to cost us now.

A pretty nice stand of Alfalfa. Hard to believe we will be cutting this in 5 weeks.

Trees from Siberia. Appropriate I suppose. :?

Maybe the sun will come out so I can check on the rest. My bulls are non union and want to go make a union. They are getting antsy and would rather be at work. Not sure if an appropriate ending shot is a front shot but given the weather front I'll put it at the end. :?

It is just starting to snow here, after raining on and off all day yesterday and last night. My sister in lacombe has 4" of the wet grassmaker on her place and we look to just be on the edge of the snow belt. We still have no puddles forming anywhere, shows just how dry we were. After seeing how much grass there will be, I can see how my 3 bottom pairs sold for 1300$ at VJV last week.

Cadogan rodeo got cancelled-Ty is up in Bonneyville at a pro show tonight-he's packing a young guy with him was going tpo get on his first horse in Cadogan he'll be disappointed maybe a bit relieved lol. Wildwood, Tofioeld and Handhills next week hope things straighten out-were just getting rain here now.

We had about every weather except snow yesterday...Helped a neighbor brand- sun was shining in the morning- and plowed thru mudholes and floated creeks to get in-- but when you got driving out on the flats the dust was flying...

About the time we finished branding (3PM) peasoup fog moved in- temp really started dropping as wind picked up- started raining--- then about 10PM a thunderstorm went thru with thunder, lightning, quarter size hail (reports of golf ball size) that did no/little damage because of no wind- and picked up another 1/2 an inch of rain.....

Corrals are a swamp- as I had a calf today with a huge puss lump on its shoulder that I had to drain and doctor- and it was nicer working outside the corral then in it...

Wierd Wet Weather....

Still snowing here ,we are at 1 right now. It is supposed to snow until tomorrow afternoon and then a high of 15 on Monday . Good thing I have a few bales of hay left, boy that sure was cutting it close..

Just got back from town and the gravel roads are horrendous, hard to stay on them and had to switch to 4wd.

Darn, we sure needed all this moisture though. What a difference from last year at this time, we have had more moisture in the last few weeks than we did all last summer and winter.

Now lets hope that the power stays on as hubby is working up north and the generator isn`t set up yet to be hooked into the power .

Update, winter snow this morning turned to showers and now overcast and 6C. These are about 8 hours after the first pics.
I located most of my cattle when visibility returned.

Calves resting in the shade. (out of wind)

More calves.

Another little group.
EndofMay2010184.jpg

They seem rather cliquey hanging out in groups.
EndofMay2010186.jpg

Bulls were touring a piece of crop.

The end.

I'm sure the moisture is appreciated, but snow just 3 days away from the first day of June just isn't right
