Today there was a bad fire which started along cp rail main line west of Maple Creek Saskatchewan. Burned through at least two yards. Burned several ton of big square bales miles of pasture also. A lot of fence to rebuild . Tonite Cp Rail was hauling a track hoe near the site were the fire started.

A fire caused by target shooters burned about 20 acres here in Utah today. We have had a little below average winter for snowpack and water content and things are drying out around here. Heck our mud is even gone. Sure hate to see fire when it destroys fences and feed. But it sure can be a fine tool when applied correctly. Sorry it raised hell up your way.

There is a 7000 acre fire going right now between Havre and Chinook...Hwy 2 is closed- and they've had to shut down power to some areas east of Havre... Our county has sent 2 trucks for mutual aid....

Wind blew all day til about 3PM- then went down nice...Came back up about 2 hours ago and has been really howling- gusts to 50 mph....

Yeah, fire season has started. We had a 100+ acre fire yesterday afternoon, a controlled burn quickly became uncontrolled when the wind got up to 50+ mph. Fortunately, we got it surrounded before it reached a sub-division.

OT they are saying that fire up by Chinook was 5000 acres as of 7pm and the one north of Great Falls was 7000 acres at 7pm.

Wonder if they got them out yet.

This mornings Tribune:
As the fire in Great Falls started to spread, so did another one along the Hi-Line between Havre and Chinook.
Blaine County Emergency Manager Haley Gustitis said the fire started about 3 miles east of Havre had grown to 7,000 to 9,000 acres along the Milk River as of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. The flames were burning about 10 miles west of Chinook late Tuesday night. The cause of that fire wasn't known as of late in the evening.
"There have been no evacuations and no structures have been damaged," Gustitis said.
Travel on Highway 2 was open Tuesday night, but officials urged caution as the fire's course was unknown and any change in the wind direction would make the blaze's movement very unpredictable.
Gustitis said that firefighters from as far as Rudyard, Glasgow and Lewistown had arrived in Blaine County to help fight the blaze.

The last I heard today was the fire was contained- but not out as it was burning down in the trees of the Milk River... My son, who is on the City Fire Dept spent the night taking runs for the county- because the County Dept had sent two trucks to Havre- and a tanker to Wolf Point...
