Notabarbershopquartetjustfourbrothe.jpg

Not a barbershop quartet, just four brothers who were all ushers at their sister's wedding. They claim they don't sing. The cute girl is the daughter of the man on the right.
LIghtninghitanolddeadtree.jpg

Lightning hit an old dead tree on Monday afternoon. We dumped quite a bit of water on it before it quit smoldering.

SaddletrampandIloaded3cows3calvesan.jpg

Saddletramp and I loaded three cows, three calves, and three bulls with this elaborate fence-corner loading facility. When we arrived back home, the 3 calves were unloaded and put with the other orphans. One more wild dry cow was loaded, along with two horses, and I had a justifiable trip to the salebarn.
ManfromSnowyRiver.jpg

This gentleman was at the sale barn. He was a young man working for my neighbor at the time the movie "Man From Snowy River" came out. I thought he looked just like Tom Burlinson, the main actor of the movie, back then. Do you suppose Mr. Burlinson looks like this feller now?

Look at these sorry suckers. Why buy a cow when milk is so cheap? This poor old cow reminds me of the federal government. Everyone is trying to grab a teat and hang on tight. It's not easy being easy.

Great set of pictures Soapweed.

But......I've seen Tom Burlison on TV in the last couple years. And no....he don't look like that fella in your picture. Tom looks pretty much the same, he's just had a few meals since the movie. Not fat by anymeans, but not as lean as he was in the movie.

By the way, that's one of my all time favorite movies. :D

From the actions of the cows and horses- it looks like the flys are getting bad down there....Luckily so far this hasn't been too bad a fly year up here....

Are your weaned calves on meadow aftergrowth? You have grown more grass since you hayed than I have all year!! The sandhills is the best cowcountry that God made out of doors. Your picture of the moochers or freeloaders was well described as to the correlation with Govt programs.

Great Pictures! I like the one of the newly weaned calves on that lush grass :D

That is quite the set of brothers! I envy anyone that has a brother(s). I managed to be in the middle of 5 sisters, but no brothers :( A person kinda misses something ,I think, if they don't have a close sibling. Oh well, I've managed this long and it doesn't look like it will change!

I have found that if I add some organic iodine to the mineral, that seems to help on the footrot problems. I use 1/2 pound of iodine for 100 pounds of mineral. I guess it is against the law for the feed company to mix it, so I have to mix it at home. Apparently it is OK to feed it, however :???:

Very smart move to sell culls now  . I'd like to go with a couple of bulls, but only have one of them home... the other one is hiding out somewhere on the forest. I hate the thought of making more than one trip to Fort Collins, BUT the way cattle are selling, I may justify it :D .
