First off...these are of taking the bulls back down to Big Creek (now a pasture between them and the cows) after semen and trich testing.

Jill is really doing well

Now we're to today - St. Patricks Day...all was well, did chores, tagged calves, two cows were looking like they were going to calve...went and tagged calves in another pasture. Came back, one cow had two front feet out...no problem, a five year old rather BIG cow. Went and ate lunch, checked her again...wandering around sniffing other calves...gave her another half hour...nothing. Got her in, all seemed fine. Put the chains on and Mike started pulling with the hooks and the upper jaw/nose wasn't coming out. It was right there but hooked on the inside...must've been why she didn't have it. So no problem, got it out, calf comes flying out. I give her a shot of penicillin (forgot to mention she lay down in the chute :???: ), look back and she's prolapsing...and of course I mean a uterine prolapse. And she won't get up, so to get her up we have to let her out of the chute. Luckily she takes a left and the alleyway and an interior wall (of sorts) make a V that seems to work. She's not our gentlest cow but she did fine. I blocked her, Mike was the pusher and I was the holder...of the womb that is. I'm short, she's tall so I'm holding it all at chest level, and as Mike is pushing it's about face level. So of course I get the giggles  can't help myself. Then I say" if Soapweed was here he'd be taking pictures :) "
These are our pictures when we were done. All that was dry on me was my socks :o

Mike wasn't nearly as bad

We both take showers, work some dogs, doctor a cow etc. Get ready to go take a last look at the calves. And before we go Mike checks on the other cow...it's backwards. Get her in, pull it and she squirts Mike big time with some REALLY runny green stuff...right in the crotch. I thought it was quite funny but didn't have the camera.

So that was our day :)

Thanks for sharing. It is always a lot funnier when it happens to someone else. :-) Glad you got everything put back together the way it is intended to be. Hopefully the day after St. Patrick's Day will go much better for you.

See, this clearly demonstrates why white is a poor color choice to wear during calving .

Jill does look to be in command with those bulls. My dogs are sad that calving is winding down, and their buffet bar is coming to a close :D .

The dog food bill is pretty cheap this time of year. And to think of all the doggie lovers that love to play smoochie-poo with their puppies. :? :-)

Thanks Nicky for the heads up..........
Love the bull pictures. Awesome dog.. I miss meegie's help. He may hobble down to the horse barn and help with horse chores, but never watches the gates or heps check cows.........
Now the the other pictures... I would of been dry heaving the whole time...You are a true-blue cowgirl in my books!!!
Hey Soap.......... Just hang those cleanings over the fence for beef jerky for the dogs..... Lasts longer too........... :P

The aftermarket diet pretty much kills the desire for smoochie poo...
It is like kissing your wife after eating onions. Fine for the one who ate the onions

They sell a vet splash suit up here would keep you fairly dry-mind you my horse would unload me if I wore it out trying to catch a calving cow lol. Nicky you'd be a great subject for a laundry detergent add lol. did you ever get your picture CD troubles figured out.

I am home on some leave and have been working a few head myself - so, it is nice to see pics of folks other than myself getting dirty!

All in the day of a person who works with cattle. :D

Have a good one.
