Today was cool, windy and showery... Didn't get much moisture, but I just didn't feel like fixing fence so took in a local red angus bull sale...Spear J Angus out of Jordan and Bowles J5 out of Chinook sold together....

Not a bad sale- altho more bulls than they had buyers for with uneven demand- so they either sold for a good price or no saled.....I think Spear J sold the top bull for $5900 to Redland Angus- which got one or two more... Registered yearling heifers sold for $875- $1100 while I was there- I left before they were done...

I really liked the looks of several of the Spear J bulls- most of which were in the 5.5 frame size... My cousin must have liked them too, because he picked up about a half dozen of them.....

Both Spear J and Bowles are great people. I have done business with both ranches and you can't get better people. I especially enjoy all the BS that just rolls out of Wes. Fun guy to boot.

Well they must treat you right because I know my cousin has bought several bulls from Spear J every year for several years. Definitely nice looking bulls- just wrong color for me  . Seemed like good folks from what I saw- both outfits definitely knew the history on each of their cows- and even if the EPD's and birthweights were there they didn't try to push off bulls they didn't think would work on heifers.....
