My sis in law and I have finally decieded to set emotions aside and do something we've wanted to do for quite a while now. We're entering a team in the RFL,in memory of our mother in law{the GREATEST Gramma that ever walked the Earth} and in celebration of our nephews. The three were diagnosed with different cancers, around the same time 5 yrs ago.Warren was 34 when diagnosed with a rare muscle cancer, and Caden, not a yr old when diagnosed with stomach cancer...gregs mom, uterine. We lost gregs mom but are SOOOO lucky to have the other 2 still with us.

We know NOTHING about the relay, any suggestions, ideas, anything we should know??

Question I have...
1}Are spectators allowed?

2} my daughter would like to participate, but will be nursing a month old baby,is this possible?

3} We've heard rumblings about decorating our group area...TRUE?

Any help any of you that have done the relay would be VERY appreciated...Thx Mairi

Mrs. G, I played for the kick-off for Relay for life in High River a couple of years ago. It was held at the high school track/football field. There were all sorts of activities in the infield and the relay was run on the track. I saw many teams there and would say that not all were athletes and some had strollers for their babies. Some were sick. I would guess that any willing participant would be welcome. The t-shirt from there has www.cancer.ca. It might have more into.

I should have double checked the questions.

1- Yes

2- Yes

3- Yes

There must be a local coordinator to call.

My mom has been involoved with it for qute a few years in the county where she lives. I think when she does it she's on a survivors team. There's all sorts of folks there, in all states of health. There's always folks there with strollers. If you want to do it, I'm sure they'd be glad to have you. If you do a search for Canadian Cancer Society, and then a search on their site for relay for life, I think you'll find the contacts you need. Good luck.

:) Thx guys,my daughter was pretty happy to know she & baby could be part of it.

Me SIL talked to the coordinator but she was really busy and didn't give much extra info
